I've been housesitting in the US & Mexico for 20 years. I never advertised, never payed a service. It's all been word-of-mouth & referrals. If you do a great job people will tell their friends. I often have 3 homes to choose from at the same time. I didn't charge people a fee until about 3 years ago. The nicer the home, the more people are willing to pay well. They know it's cheaper than hiring separate services(dog walker, plant care, mail service, security, etc.)
