  • Awesome. I need to catch his goose in my neighborhood that has an arrow stuck in the side of its foot. Wasnt sure if pouncing on it was the way to go or not. I missed him this morning and I was closer to him than this guy was to the one he caught.

  • @sharonpheonix Yep, just pouncing on it is the way to go. Its works great if you use bread as a distraction. I hope you can help the goose!

  • Tricky, but I managed to masturbate to this.

  • It's kinda endearing, the way it stretches it's neck and goes honk honk honk, as if that's helping anybody.

  • he's playing the bagpipe

  • Aww one stayed behind to help the one you caught

  • aaah! So cute.

  • that one goose to the left was about to go ninja on you...haha

  • poor goose!

  • Good job!

  • at 1:03 he starts to eat his catch!

  • lol, i remember doing something similar.... during lunch at school... i caught a goose like that one and carried it into my school like he was my pet.. lol... it seemed pretty calm as i carried it... but as soon as i brought it into a classroom everyone seemed fascinated, but in like 10 seconds.. the teacher was like... "GET THAT THING OUTTA HERE!" and i got in some trouble for that. i was well known ever since. lol XD

  • i would have kep it fo a pet

  • That's illegal and is a federal offense! Besides, geese poop a lot. Lots to clean up after. And theyre very social animals, need to be with their own kind.

  • I'm not too sure about the laws on some of the geese we have here. The DOW introduced a flock of geese years ago that don't migrate and they are causing a lot of problems. They go as far as spraying the nests with caster oil to destroy the eggs. I wouldn't keep one as a pet.

  • I am a wildlife rehaber and believe me, you you dont want to keep as a pet. Most people who do try to raise them end up dumping them at parks after they have already imprinted on humans. They are happier in the wild.

  • ashlanas you are right. They dump them all the time here without thinking about winter when ALL our lakes freeze over. Then you end up with an over weight goose that cant fly,no fear of people and sitting on a frozen lake (sitting duck?)

  • @Wildrsq So what ever happened? Were yo uable to return the goose to its family. Geese mate for life, whereas ducks are monogomous. I notice the other parent almost attacked you..totally normal behavior. I was attacked before during a rescue and the welt on my head was not fun! But it was all good in the end! Very worth it! Your canada geese should be able to fly, but some choose to stay in the winter.

  • ashlanas I released it the same day in the same spot. It was only at the vet for about an hour. I have video of the release but i couldn't figure out how to splice the video.

  • the gooses dont care like after 5 mins

  • Good job. This is the way I do it, and have always done it. I'll add by saying that stress is greatly reduced by placing a blind fold over the goose's head. A tube sock works well, they can be thick though so be aware of your time in cases of prolonged stress/handling.

  • Yes - that's the way to do it for sure. Next time I'll have to try it your way. Lets hope their is no next time.
