@ericandy88 Glad you asked. On one episode, about Nov. 1974, Gary Burghoff was subbing for CNR (where he was acting in a Broadway musical). One day, Gary was playing with Gene's microphone, and discovered that the Sony mike telescoped up and down. Gene took notice of that feature and started to adjust the mike until it felt comfortable in his hand. And (as they say) the rest is history...
These people were amazingly funny... they should have a reunion show - even though some of the stars are no longer with us (the great Brett and Charles). But Betty White, Richard Dawson, Fannie, Pattie, Marcia Wallace - all still alive.
Lawd almighty, Richard Dawson was hot stuff.
