I don't think socialism or "spreading the wealth around" works. It eliminates the incentive to work hard and it increases the reasons for the lazy to continue being dependent upon others.
If you look at congress right now, you will see that they are not getting anything accomplished. This is true because of politicians refusing to reach across the aisle and pass legitimate compromises. McCain has a much better record of working with all members of congress to actually accomplish something

I got another robocall this afternoon where Gulliani was saying that Obama is for removing mandatory sentences for violent offenders and sex offenders.
I assume he means that mandatory sentencing guidelines established in 1973 for all offenses which effectively reduced the role of the judge in sentencing to reading a chart. Up for criminal history and across for aggravating and extenuating circumstances.

I use Pollster(dot)com they do a compilation of the data from other people's polls, the bigger your sample size the lower the margin of error, and they put the National Poll at 50.1% Obama and 43.1% McCain.
