Could anyone tell me how I could get my 4runner looking like that? How much would it cost? That thing looks damn sexy. My 4runner is an 1988 22re, Its red and has a 3 inch lift, Its got 414,000 km, I also have a 2nd 1988 4runner, not insured, its got 227,000km and has a ticking noise as it accelorates..... what could that be, is it a big problem?

@shane2244 I fit my 35" with 2" suspension lift and a custom 3/4" body lift. keep it low.

all toyota trucks made after 1985 had IFS. SAS is when you replace the stock indepipendent suspension with a solid axle out of an earlier model toyota (mostly).

thats not a 88 model, it is a 85' since it has the solid front axle. unless you did a SAS ?

Haha, dude just because it has a solid front axle doesn't make it NOT an '88. He probably just swapped the front end for that locker axle like any real man would.

Right, and not all 'Runners have SAS, even in '88. I've owned two: one with SAS, one without. I had open diff in the front and back when I bought my second '88 4Runner, but my first had an SAS front end.

nice truck i have an 89 with a 2 inch lift getting ready to put a 3 inch body lift cause noone will sell me anything bigger then a 2 inch lift so i am going up to 35s also i was wondering gear ratio and what the motor size was 3.0 or the 22re

@xx4x4kingxx what are you gonna run for gears with 35's? what do you got 2 inch ball joint spacers now? if you go to 35's on stock ifs with bj spacers or even without and you wheel might wanna throw on an idler arm brace. 3 inch body lift is a pretty easy install. shifter extensions can kinda be a bitch at times. good luck buddy. and dont go with a cheezy 4 inch suspension kit....unless its ong travel!
