@skinpounding Well then yours is faster :P I have a big sound system in it so been going slow.. i have like an extra 500 pounds due to speakers and amp.. batteries.. etc :/
my 96 4x4 v6 does the same thing. thought it was wheel bearings. put new different mirrors on it. no change. i now also think it is a wind noise. anybody figures it out let us know please.
Even if i am driving along cruising say at 55 mph and a if a gust of wind comes through it will also still make the sound.. I am thinking it is just how the vehicle is made where there is a gap between the mirror and frame and so it makes a whistling noise when lots of wind gets to be pushed in there?
@7776ferg with more research on mine does it without any mirrors on it. will not do it with window down. it is a wind noise. been trying few different things with clear silicone. i will find it sooner or later.
Please let us know. Its not the most important thing in the world but aggravating on say windy days and if you have a passenger they will say " Whats that ?"
@skinpounding I think it has something to do with the mirrors.. mine sit off the truck a little leaving a gap so i think air rushes in there and makes that noise? Not 100 percent for sure but either way i hate the noise very much so.
@thegrimreaper73 i have a 96 and it has the same noise but on the passenger side. crack the window about an inch and it doesnt do it. but holy hell during the winter it's annoying. my girlfriend thinks its hilarious. and just incase you were wondering the people driving next to you CAN hear it inside their car.
@TheRealMrBlake Thats weird...I have a 94 95 and a 96 all of them dont make that sound...my 89 and 91 didnt either...mabey the above comments are correct it might be the big dumbo mirrors...they arnt very good looking haha
no its was between 1st and 2nd. all automatic dakotas shift from 1st to 2nd between 35 & 42mph. then 2nd to 3rd round 70 to 75mph. people need to learn things before they leave comments.
ya my 96 does it at like 90 too 100 first time i thought the door was gonna rip off for the v6 it flys gonns v8 it ill post some vids

You weren't in 't going from 1st to 2nd when the "tire chirped". You were going from 2nd to 3rd. You can see it shift into 2nd at about 16-17mph.

i have a 96 dakota also and it makes it around 85 for me

I believe its the mirror cause its off the vehicle an inch or so.. so it makes a noise the faster you move lol.. but not 100 percent sure..
thegrimreaper73 2 years ago
i had a1996 dakota that did the same thing its something to do with the body design that causes it to do that
