I believe he died in 1959. That was the same year that Waylon Jennings recorded his first songs, and Buddy was on them. So figure Waylon recorded in January and Buddy died in February, because I know that Waylon Jennings gave up his seat to the big bopper, and before he made his first recordings of his own Waylon was in the crickets as the bassist.
