no. the processor is technically capable of 720p but since apple under clocked the processor the phone actually only puts out 640x480 VGA at 30 FPS.

it is very disappointing that i have to jailbreak my iphone to get video applications... it is a selfish move from apple wanting to sell their "new" product with its new features (the compass, voice control, and the 3MP camera)...

if apple really cares about their customers, they should have made compass, voice control, and some kind of a video application as an update that people buy instead of releasing a new iphone...

Brilliant quality for VGA. iPhones seem to have better picture results than you'd expect from the resoloution they are. Like the 2.0MP camera on the old one is better than the 3.2 on my Samsung I'd say. The VGA video looks great but has very sstrange aspect ratio. If you recorded horizontally it would have been 16:9 would it?

@Bl4kk4lb yeah, I watched the video, parts of it dropped below 15 frames per second of the max. 30fps, now my Nokia (a model from 2004/05) can get better frame rates than that at VGA AND at the time was cheaper than what the iPhone is now.

My point is that the iPhone has fallen behind a bit in the video recording department - if I don't complain then it won't get fixed nearly as fast.
