haha ouch! i can hear it all! i have Turbo cini bass booster true 5.1 output sound and high definition cini crystal LCD so i had to turn my speakers back down as its pretty late can see every detail too :)
may i ask how much you purchased this model for? as i am wishing to buy one and i am trying to get one for as cheep as possible (obviously) but need to find out out the prices .
@bachmannman96 All i'll say is to shop around for best prices, see model press ad's & online. As a long standing customer at my local model shop, they give me a very good discount. Needless to say i get it a lot cheaper than the RTR price.
Umm.. I Would Like To Know If A DCC Sound Loco Would Work On A Hornby DCC Select? And, If It Does, Does It Have The Same Capabilities It Would Have On The Elite?
@nintendoalien479 Yes will work with the Select. But with the select you only have 9 functions against Elite's 13 functions (Hornby are suppose to be doing an update i believe, to increase the Elite's number of functions). On the slect you'll not be able to change the CV settings such as volume on the sound. Visit Hornby's DCC section on their web page & go to DCC controller comparison, for between the selct & Elite.
@mongoosekid14 All depends on how the camera has recorded the sound, how the pc plays it back etc. See if your local model shop can give you a demo, & hear it in the flesh. As i've found some times video's on here dosen't do the sound justice etc.
Ah the sixties are absolutely beautiful, I used to see them on the tunstead line before I went to school in the morning at Buxton. Shame, db Schenker's just put 20 up for 'sale'. Guess that'll mean scrapping for some :(
@ay76 Yeah, a crying shame f you ask me, this is history repeating itself, just like the 9F's all over again, heavy freight locos scrapped after never really fulfilling their potential :'( Check the disposal lists atm on DB Schenker's site
@Barryat11 I was there recently, & it looked like most of the class was dotted about Toton's yards. A sad shame, with the state of how some of them are looking now.
How do you couple wagons to a class 60, as shown in this vid, as there arent any couplers that I can see? Do you have to add the couplers or is it a special couple?
I started out with DCC and only wanted steam locos with sound but have now bought a few diesels too. This one sounds great, may have to go out and buy it. There seem to be more diesels than locos with sound at the moment.
@ay76 Aye. And you can imagine the driver getting into the cab, sitting down, turning on the cab light, checking the contents of his lunchbox (and grumbling), turning on the panel lights and starting up, etc. etc. Just great the way the engine kicks into life. Think there's no way back once you can afford one of these, eh?
Good videos. Thanks. (Hope your in line for a good pension from Hornby!)
@hildibildibaldi Thank you. All that's missing from the model is the driver, That cab is just begging to have a snap box & flask & newspaper added. The sound really does bring it to life. Cheers.
Hey, thinking about going to DCC.. IS that thing ready to go wih all the sounds etc, out of the box. Can i use all of those sounds and everything like acceleration steps etc, or wil the Hornby Select/elite only cater for example 3 function. so f1 could be the horn, f2 start up and f3 programmed acceleration???
What you see here, is straight out of the box. The annotations in the video run through most of the functions. The Elite at the moment will do functions F0 up to F12. Hornby are working on increasing the number of functions on the Elite. This is being controlled by the Elite. Cheers.
Just got my own one of these today, along with the two tone green class 25 with sound by Bachmann, both sound great. Also enjoying following your layout progress, keep up the good vids!
Fantastic comment 5*, many thanks. I think you can't get much better comment than from some one like your self, who is very familiar with the real thing :-). What was it like driving these? Any good or bad points? What did you like best about these machines?? Kind regards.
Thanks for the reply, Driving the 60s was very comfortable they had a nice cab layout and everything is close to hand, They are very powerfull and better than the sheds. After the class 37s finished on the bromsgrove banking turn it was totaly class 60 operated so they had to be comfy for this purpose, Worst bits the engine room layout being a big bloke i used to knock the engine stop switch whilst changing ends then had to wait to restart the loco, Best bits sheer power and ability visability.
Mmmmm.... and what we grew up with. Of the first generation diesels, the Western looks best, though I like the warhog looks of the 37 too. 47s look like they mean business (more so than the class 55s). Still prefer an unlined Black Five to all of them!
Nice choice, there just so happens to be a Black 5 in my fleet, i'll have to dig it out & video it. That's another one a waiting a DCC decoder. Cheers.
well i tried that, and thankfully it worked, and i think the problem was that i diddnt have foam undelay beneath the track a the time, so that made a vry rough journey and may have caused power fluctuations
Good to hear it's now sorted. I think DCC can be a little more sensitive to things like what you've told me about here. That's why I'm taking my time with the building of the current layout. But pleased you've got the sound of 37 on your layout again :-) cheers.
i have a problem , i have a sound 37 that when i put on the track it sounds a 1 tones horn and the enginge is already going, and it cant do the functions properly , would i have the same problem with this train ( ps my system is currently on a hornby select)
MMM.....Try turning function 1 off & then back on again, see if that sorts it. if not maybe do a decoder re-set, see the instruction sheet that comes with the loco. That may sort it out. If not contact Bachmann to see what they suggest. Also try DCC supplies as they are very good on DCC advice too.Let me know if reseting the decoder sorts it out. If all else fails pop back to your local model shop, & have the loco checked out.Cheers.
Class 66 are freight loco's, I have seen them pulling coaches such as on railtours & the odd Postal train (as seen in a Model Rail DVD a few years back).Cheers.
In your opion which is best, the class 56 or the 60 ? - Detail model wise , i perefer the 60, sound etc the the 56. Both are verygood models from hornby
I now have this model of 60048 as my birthday was on Saturday last weekend and I can't wait to get the new MkIII DVT that Hornby are bringing out soon. Here is 5 stars for the video mate.
Great stuff, I really like these on board sound loco's. They really seem to come alive so to speak. I've ordered one of them all new DVT's too!! Hornby really kept that one under wraps. Many thanks again. Cheers.
Again, like the other loco it has switchable day time & night time running lights. So depending what it's set to will show either the left or right hand light. Cheers.
I'll have to have a recount as i can't remember what the total is but put it this way, it'll cost me a bomb to get them all fitted with a decoder.Cheers.
now about the army 60, its not out at the end of the year!! , its actually coming out on the second quater of this year!!!!!! ( id better start saving;)
lovely, one of the best models on the market has just gotten a h*** of a lot better!!!!!!!!
