As much as I appreciate Peter Straker's amazing vocal range, I can't help but JUST listen to Freddie's voice. It's like during the duration of the song, I just wait to hear Freddie's voice. But don't get me wrong, I love the WHOLE song and I think the lyrics are extremely beautiful :) Thanks for posting this! And I must say, the pictures are just breath taking especially the ones with Freddie ;)
even thought Peter Straker could sing amazingly well, this is such a luxurious thing to be able to afford yourself Freddie Mercury just for some of your backing vocals ! :D
Wow! I have spent YEARS looking for this song! A friend had the LP and we played it to bits! I have the Changeling album but never managed to find this one - even back in the '70's !!!!! THANK YOU for sharing.
this seems to be his best song. I have looked and listened to the others I can find but nothing compares. Maybe there is some others I need to find. But this is just wonderful. Best ever.
@endaanne There is no easy cure for replaypathology. Best you can do for a temporary fix is to throw your speakers into fast moving traffic; then that's only good for as long as it takes you to go buy new speakers....could get very expensive. You have my sympathies.
great track great album...remember buying this in december 1977 because freddie was involved....would loved to have heard freddies vocal on this track....but a fine performance by mr straker....
Yes guys, a great song, and one heck of a vocal. But I was looking for the album Private Lives, with a weird song about a nightmare set at Chalk Farm Underground. Anyone out there got a copy?
Dave I have been searching all over the WEB for Peter Straker's work. Can't find anything to keep. You know buy download or cd, dvd. Can you please point me in the right direction? Found your radio station....Love It!
Damn maybe Peter was too busy with other stuff to pursue rock super-stardom. He is Fabulous and this song simply beautiful. Where can one buy Peter Straker's work?
Dave, the song is stuck in my head. I've hit the replay button so many times its embarrassing (hope you cant see who is hitting it). I discovered it when Sander wrote about/posted it on Peter Freestone's FB Wall. WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE COME GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!!
Thanks for this Dave. This is one of my favourite songs by Peter. Some pics I haven't seen before here too. I'm Peter's niece, & when I listened to this I could hear my grandmother's soprano in there too, which made it even better.;)x
@chillizoe5 I am a huge huge Queen fan and I have a Peter Straker single in my collection, he must have so many stories of Freddie, maybe he should write a book. Peter also has a very good singing voice, Freddie must have thought so to produce this record.
Thank You so very much Dave for this fabulous jewel. We've lost so much when Freddie left and now beginning to realize Peter's greatness; both as a musician and Freddie's close friend.
If Freddie did sing on this AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT album, he hid his voice well. Why? I do not know. Some of the piano on it, surely sounds like Fred too.
I don´t think AIDS really kill Freddie, I t maybe sound cruel but he did everything he could do in this area. Freddie was on of the best singers ever. He was the best vocalist ever.

Ok, I bought the "Queen" album not understanding this dude was singing. This is decent music but creepy voice. Maybe it's supposed to be that way?
