@TheKillzone69 Someday they might get diesel trucks to come again. Last time they were there was 5ish years ago, and only had 2 trucks show up. I wouldn't get my hopes up though for any in the near future, unless the Outlaws recognize how popular 4x4 diesel trucks are, and gives them a class. Until then they'll just be "exhibition" hooks.
@backwoodshunters I know for a fact its a custom setup with injectors out of a cummins not shure what 8 or 9 liter, diesel power mag did an article on it
You're probably right but who cares? Zimmer made one badass motor there's no way around it. Do some reading on this. There's a lot of work and cash thrown into that truck so it's different. Not just another p-pumped Cummins. I'm a Cummins guy for sure but give credit where it is due man.
ya true but the Big Bad Dodge guy is really pushin some horse power...he has to be like 1800hp minimum if not more.....watxh his videos his truck is insain lol....this ford aint that bad sounds good an turns on good but i still think the BBD truck turns on better
love diesel sled pulls, its nice to see a powerstroke in there pulling rather then the regular old cummins, i like cummins but its nice to see a powerstroke or duramax in there every once and a while too.
The HEUI is coming along too. The problem is getting it to fire fast and large at the same time. And I know of a few guys that are real close. As soon as the HEUI 2.5 ms barrier is broken, you are going to see a flood of 1000rwhp 7.3 powerstrokes.
fucking sick!!! glad to see someones keeping it original! fuck cummins swaps! want a cummins buy a dodge! these guys are my heros. my ford will be like that some day!!
I would love to stick with the 7.3 but the aftermarket parts just aren't as widely available as they are for the cummins. I also have a hunch the maxxforce 7 (6.4L powerstroke) could gain popularity as an aftermarket engine, man those ass!
yeah, hopefully they stick with it for a while. Ford needs to stop changing engines all the time. Glad to finally hear they are giving Navistar the boot!
yeah one of the reasons the 7.3 was so great was because they took a great platform and stuck with it for more than 4-5 years!! i just wish it didn't come with the HEUI system from the factory
The money is not that much different. its the popularity and ease of the cummins. Any machine shop could fabricate the front cover, and schied sells the v8 pumps all day long. all you need after that are rods, pistons, adaptors for the injectors, and a turbo. all the same things you would need for a cummins build.
That truck eats a Duramax for lunch everyday lol.

what kind of fuel pump and injectors does that thing have?
backwoodshunters 2 years ago
I believe he either uses an 8 cylinder p pump or a v pump which is a v8 p pump. I think he uses john deere injectors too

what if I love the look and reliability of a ford but want the power of a cummins?
NorthernMoose 2 years ago
get a mechanically injected 7.3, look at how successful the 2 mechanically injected 7.3s are doing in the pulling world
glasseater90 2 years ago
man I'm not disagreeing with you on the 7.3. The cummins is just so much easier and cheaper to pull power from.
NorthernMoose 2 years ago
oh i know, but once you get to this point it's probably all close to the same $ anyway so why not go with something different?
glasseater90 2 years ago
I would love to stick with the 7.3 but the aftermarket parts just aren't as widely available as they are for the cummins. I also have a hunch the maxxforce 7 (6.4L powerstroke) could gain popularity as an aftermarket engine, man those ass!

the new 6.4 is a powerhouse that's definitely true... TS will be interesting this year... and the new 6.7 hopefully turns out great

yeah, a good 16 years, from the idi to the turbod powerstroke

it takes a real mechanic to work on Fords, working on everything else is so easy a caveman can do it.
I'm proud to own and work on fords. That way i can call out the Chevy and Dodge guys when they are talking stupid about their machines.
God Ford, or go home!
bigorangetrucker 2 years ago 6
Or everything else is made logically, so you don't have to busy a nut to do an oil change (such as my '98 Ranger).
launchpaad88 2 years ago
look how much more expensive they are too
3406Ecaterpillar 2 years ago
that's because of the HEUI system, and once you're at this level everyone's got at least 50k-100k into the truck so why not do something original?
glasseater90 2 years ago
yeah but allot of ppl dnt have that kind of money, they can make the same amount of power with half the money out of a cummins
3406Ecaterpillar 2 years ago

Don't even bother commenting on 3406's posts. He's stuck up Cummin's ass and can't respect other engines.

I wish my 1.8 litre ford turbo diesel was as good as this one!
I like ford, at least in england, they aways seem to be best allround, foolproof handling, easy/cheap to fix etc.
I want a big (old-1968etc) yank ford with a LHD conversion and a diesel engine!
A little 4 cylinder in a big yank tank!
I could not only gain access, but almost get in the engine bay!these yank powerstrokes diesels r good for 500000miles+
