I personally think that the story of Mortal Kombat is kinda sad.
A world that was once peaceful is corrupted by the lust for battle, blood, and death. After decades of suffering and despair worldwide, the Gods decide to create a tournament, making a game out of the bloodshed, and end it all. Each game represents every time they tried, then finally sent the God of Wrath, and finally kill everyone. The Earth remains empty for Milleniums to come, and the screams of the innocent plagues skies...
