In this video its shows the car going almost like invisble when the train hits it but on top gear when it shows you what its like when a car gets hit by a train, it doesn't go invisible, it just gets smashed into bits
I totally agree. The idiots in the ute were just asking for trouble. So was the mum and her children. But the difference is that the mum had little choice in the way the cue of cars were parked. The blokes in the ute could've driven more safely.
@Seattlecarnut She could still have reversed onto the shoulder or even got her kids out in time to see the car wrecked. Or better yet, not drive over until the way is clear.
my little cousin and his friend died on a level crossing and the asshole driver was the only survivor. the really fucked up thing about it is he'd only just passed his driving test and had already been pulled over for dangerous driving , going at 108 mph!!! nothing was done about it though, he was just let off and killed 2 people because of it!!! grrr
I can drive over 80 individual unprotected train lines per day when I'm at work, and I must say it's not hard to slow down and stop each time. takes an extra 5 seconds.
You should ALWAYS stop at a red flashing light, whether it be a train crossing, fire station or an Cattle crossing, allways stop and you'll see tommorow!
Their faces (children and mum) were cute but sad, you could say it was the paintings fault, or more meanly (this is not my idea) some people may blame the child for destracting the mother, also the dudes in the other car shouldn't have stopped, if they'd of gone straight across they'd have not been hit!
when you pause the film where the train just hits the truck there's noboby inside it, and the family had enough time to get out 'cause when the barriers come down, you know a train's coming so you should get out, and shouldn't the trains be wrecked too? Sorry i talk a lot! XD
I almost hit a kid while i was drivin 1 of our trains 1 year ago. He was deaf and didnt look both ways to look out 4 mi and other trains. And that vid should have gore in it so ppl fuckin wake up. It was a bit funny 2.
If I were to hear that bell and I was in the same place as that she was, I would get out of the car and would've told the kids to get out and run as fast as they can and not to panic. PANICING is the worst thing you could do. There are 12 crossings within 1/4 miles of my house. If you hear the Xing bells and the barriers go down and a train horn sounds. Don't panic and get outta the car! RIP to those who have been victims of railway accidents. Especially Passenger train accidents.
It's not horrible... It's what the public needs to see for the message to sink in. I work for the railroad and think we need some harsh reminders to wake people up.
I take that comment about it not being horrible back; it is horrible, but that's the best way to make people learn.
that last comment i did months ago,I was in a hurry, and forgot i found that comment,i was gonna erase,it and It wouldn't let me for somew odd reason, sorry if i've upset anyone, plus that day i was in a hurry
I thought the CGI graphic at the end was the brilliant part. They "ghosted" and ceased to exist. I assume that's the point, not another meaningless crash. A car rolling around is pointless when you're no longer in it, so to speak.
This is nothing special. Sure, it gets the message across nicely and efficiently, but the crap at the end with the CGI pisses me off. They should have either filmed a graphic crash like in the TAC campaigns, or just gone to black or a freeze-frame as the train was about to hit. Better-looking and cheaper to do.
Yeah, it's difficult to distinguish reality from expensively-produced propaganda with multiple clean-filtered cameras filming from all angles including inside the cars and CGI effects that are of course symptomatic of the outside world. I weep for your parents.
you notice, whenever someone gets hit by a train in an ad (in this case the guys in the truck), they always manage to break just right so they are right on the tracks and the train can get a good hit at them!
though maybe they might stop just before the tracks, or swerve off the road and stop. But then again showing the worst possible scenario is rather the point of the commercials.
It's a shame that some people don't realise the dangers of level crossing....it's also a shame that the people behind this advert don't realise their error:- at the end it says "Don't Play With Trains".....OK then, I won't play with my Hornby trains and my Brio and all my other trains..........
what about those big ones u put in your garden. that could run over u foot ( happened to me once - OOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I live in a area where we have a 2 track crossing, about every 2 hours, another train passes, and i have seen women stop on the crossing, sadly i also saw one bloody accident, some teens tried beating one. :(
yesterday 5th of June a truck hit a passenger train at a crossing in Victoria about 1 hour into there journey to Melbourne 11 people were killed and around 25 injured.
Excellent video...need more like it here in America. My step-father stopped with the rear of the vehicle too close to the tracks once, luckly there was no train, but I was thourghly pissed. As a C/R for the subway here in NYC, I have a great appreciation for the power behind a train.
Woman drivers love to stop on railroad tracks. I saw a car at the New hope and Ivyland driven on the tracks by a woman driver, she pulled forward, but the crossing gate ripped the ski rack from the roof and #40 ( a steam locomotive) was literally 4 inches away from kicking her ass!
Even though it is disturbing, I think it gets the message around pretty good, don't you think? Because clearly, people don't get that message for whatever the reason being.
That is disturbing, its the last thing anyone wants to see this, not to mention in my town we have that crossing (refers to the last scene) and usually whenever a train comes the light turns green to clear the railway immediately.
No it wont. If you honestly believe that, you really need to see a therapist, otherwise, you are just spamming, and need to go play on a construction site.
if you look closely, when stopping the video on 0.35 and 0.40, you can see how it's made. the car on the tracks is sticked niceely into it and the train rides besides it's own railway [ the orange one ]
if i was that woman in the blue car i would of reversed, i mean whats a fender bender with another car compared to your car being turned into a crushed coke can, i rest my case
Oh yes. Funny hulkinator4. How about we swap the woman and her children in that car for yours.
Funny then?
This and the other one with the woman on the bike are incredibly powerful messages. If only we had that in Britain. Instead we have the (admittedly brilliant) Jeremy Clarkson making a joke out of an Espace being totally destroyed.
That whole "what if it happened to you?" argument is asinine and without merit. If somebody were to actually derive humour from a real accident, then of course this person is an idiot. Hulkinator4, to the best of my understanding, was laughing at an advert with rubbish CGI effects and voice-overs trying to scare people. He has every right to. If you're honestly effected by propaganda such as this, and NOT by actual experience/common sense, then your priorities are impossible to comprehend.
I think that makes a perfect act part for any movie. But at least Amanda Detmer is not in this commercial like she got hit by a bus in Final Destination.
