I don't know why it didn't occur to me at the time, but I would guess it's left open to pour a concrete floor.

But then why wouldn't they do make the whole floor concrete?

watching you put put the roof on before enclosing the walls brought back memories...my neighbor built a garage and did that and we got a storm with high winds......as I looked out the window it got picked up and put down in 5 seconds....it was back to the drawing board.

Great ! I always wondered how wood houses were made ( in France, builders don't like to give advices, they only want to get cash from you ) and most of the houses ( nearly 99 % ) are made from bricks or concrete .

Holy crap; That's a house here in Hawaii and they then charge us a half a million dollars for it or charge rent at 1800 and more per month.
