  • Je vous aime, M. Malle!

  • very expensive

  • It's really true, most fragrances smell the exact same.

  • @laurenoliver23 you must be smelling some pretty linear scents

  • This is who everyone should know if they love fragrance! Genius idea love how he gets all the popular perfumer around the world to make what they think is a piece of ART!

  • Quelle classe...

  • Frederic Malle pour President! At least he's actually French.

  • Very unique insights into the fragrance industry, I would consider this a must watch for someone who has graduated from Fragrance 101, and is ready to learn more.

  • Any1 know what temp Malle keeps their frags at in the fridges?

  • No Olivier Cresp ? :(

  • Frederic Malle fragrances are difficult to find in the US. You have to buy them from the Editions de Parfums website, boutique in New York, or at a Barneys New York store (across the country). For samples google The Perfumed Court.

  • If so much care is taken to preserve the fragrances from heat and light that Malle refrigerates them in stores, I wonder why he chose to bottle his scents in clear glass instead of something darker and more protective?

  • try absolutely CARNAL FLOWER its BEAUTIFUL

  • Frederic Malle Editions de Partum - genius. Forget the booths and the refrigerators, the products speak for themselves.

  • where i can buy this perfume? and how much? pls kindly give me the info thx!

  • Barneys carries Frederic Malle and they range anywhere from $130 US to $200+

  • Up to $300, don't forget Carnal Flower! :)

  • i will try this perfume

  • HOW MUCH :)

  • i love this perfume!

  • Mirabelle69,

Good point! Actually, Patricia de Nicolai's fragrances are treasures and a bit more affordable than the Malle line. Have you tried Sacre Bleue? Rose Pivoine? Gorgeous, fresh, and unique scents.

  • So don't be naïve.

To say how unique the perfume and the client are, is just another commercial way to sell you perfumes.

The price and fake technological gizmo are just ways to emphasize the intellectual posture.

In the end, you should only trust what you smell.

I sure love Malle. The more perfume offers there are the better it is. But I prefer the way of "Patricia de Nicolaï", who do high quality perfumes too, but in a less pretentiousfull way, with a normal price.

  • Thanks for telling me about this great name in perfume. Can you recommend any scents for a guy by Patricia de Nicolaï? The New York looks to be popular, but I thought it would be a good idea to ask you before making any decisions. Thanks!

  • @GuitarHeroPatriarch I'm answering a bit late. New York show all shades from bergamotte-lavender to an orange amber drydown. By Nicolaï, many are classy, though few give heartcrush. There are good masculine ("carré d'as" lavender, "vetyver", the new "patchouly homme"), they are good but not so distinctive. Trust your taste and buy what you like, it's the best to do. Their price are good, and they offer a 30ml bottle range.

If you dare, "Le temps d'une fête" is beautiful on fabric, it's unisex.

  • I'm a little skeptic.

Of course it's good to make quality and creation prevail, and sure that's what they do at "Frederic Malle ...".

But I'm still not convinced by what they propose, no crush here (or maybe "parfum de therese), I still need proofs.

Moreover, beware! This video shows some gimmicks of this brand : tuberose naturally smell great, it's easy, their tuberose is one among many good ones.

Their booths are just huge plastic tube with a fan : a gizmo. As well as the fridge story.

  • Brilliant!

  • Can we leave the subject of perfumery to the experts please and not the "celebrities?"

We would be most appreciative if that were the case.

    Editions de Parfum = G O R G E O U S !

  • Once I have 'sniff' their fragrances, I just can't go back to the 'commercial' brands.

Love: Bigarade Concentree, French Lover, En Passant.

  • The other comment I wanted to make is that fragrance booths are a good way of evaluating a room fragrance but must surely be misleading for an extrait perfume worn regularly on the skin. Here it is the basenotes which accumulate and dominate the fragrance trail or 'wake'that the wearer leaves behind them.

  • Excellent video. Of course many other niche brands are now promoting the creative freedom idea, but I have never heard it more convincingly and accurately expressed.

One thing to be bear in mind however is that you wear a fragrance to please others, not just yourself. Therefore if you are mixing with a wide variety of people it arguably makes logical sense to wear a fragrance which appeals to everybody and offends nobody.

  • Brilliant, pellucid, endearing man. To have that kind of financial power behind you and yet maintain creative integrity is to be exalted. My favourite line, certainly. :)

  • This is truly an amazing line. Something to be treasured. Thank you for posting this video.

  • I LOVE that Mr. Malle comments on the celebrity/marketing/hype thing for these turn-them-out and cheap make-a-buck celebrity scents that glut department stores and end up in discount bins!

True craftsman(woman)ship with Editions de Parfums!

  • @MignonMe

Some celebs are involved in the creation of their fragrances and actually wear them themselves. However, they are not the ones actually creating it, they just are supervising the design process, I guess you could say.

  • I have to share that I am awaiting my bottles of

En Passant and Iris Poudre. Should arrive Monday, and I can't wait!

I may honestly keep them in my refrigerator after watching this video! : )

  • The fragrance booth idea is marvelous!

I have to say, I am fortunate to have discovered that due to my love of Apres L'Ondee (Guerlain), L'eau d'Hiver was recommended. I bought it sight unsniffed (the large!) much to my delight! Much to my delight! Jeannemarie : )

  • How funny, those are two of my favourites, as well!

  • I love Frederic Malle fragrances. This is some of the most impressive group of craftsmen/women in their field. To be given the creative freedom to design fragrances as they choose--impressive!

    : ) Jeannemarie

  • this is shot in Holt-Renfrew Vancouver.
