Anybody who puts the dreaded 'bathroom scene' in a video always gets a lot of divided opinion. I do think that the scene was a little too intense but was right for the characters as Joss said throughout the series and after the vampires in the show represent the trials and tribulations of everyday life, though most women do not go through this it's important to have that awareness. James Marsters has repeatedly said in interviews that he hated filming this scene and in fact nearly committed sui
I didn't expect such a debate over this. I loved reading everyone's perspective on Spike and Buffy's relationship. And I could see why a scene like this would bring out some heated controversy.
like with when spike gets a identical robot version of buffy which he has foreplay and sex with. obviously that in real life is Hideous... but because it's in buffy i enjoyed watching it. i know what the shows about because i saw it with the unfilled eyes that a child has and looking back on it i know what's it about and joss whedon's motivations for putting in certain scenes. it was a very sexual series. a great memory.
Beautifully made video. Congrats on that. And, though i stand by my other statement, i am actually really glad that Joss and the buffy crew were willing to go here. I'm glad that they didn't decide this was too heavy, too dark, and shied away from it. The fact that they were willing to put this scene out there shows just how dedicated to the story and to the characters everyone here is. Though it was painful to watch, the acting was perfect and I am so glad they were able to go there.
I am a huge Buffy/Spike lover!!! So sad about the rape scene it is very sad to watch. But loved the vid!!! Was very emotional!!!! Effects where awesome!!! I was wondering what is the name of the song you used and who is it by? I tried the link but it said the vid was removed. The song totally fits them!!! 5 thumbs up and favorited!!! :D Keep up the Epic work!!! :D
@LieutenantEO i found it hot.. what else could it be when you know that buffy can stop him like she always does. or something like that. the programerrs were like this one time she can't do anything about it..
@maxgunn555 You're wrong. Buffy doesn't have unlimited power. it matches and even falls short occasionally to vamps. Its her thought processes and knowledge that allow her to win. She has, in the past, lost-or almost lost- to spike on multiple occasions. Here, she isn't thinking clearly, thanks to panic. Spike is. She tries to escape, begs him to stop, and she DOES stop him. The fact you find *rape* to be hot means you should seek out some counseling before you end up in jail.
@xXMusicSpeaksXx i watched buffy since it first came out as a child. spike was a villain at first who was meant to be a one off bad guy for an episode but he became popular and they kept him in big time. As they kept him in he became that harmless type vampire like the outcast of the group they loved to hate ie even xander was bossing him about by season 6. it's her thought processes that allow her to win? thats your imagination it's neither here nor there. continued.
@xXMusicSpeaksXx in buffy there are lots of sexual scenes. it's just that hot kind of program. don't tell me to seek counselling because you don't understand. *sigh*.. rape in real life is fucked up but when it's between a hot vampire slayer and spike's character it was kind of fitting. not hot i guess but watchable let's say. the scene didnt happen becaus the director had buffy not think properly or show that she's weak it's just another one of those perverse spike buffy sexual scenes.
@maxgunn555 As dehaloed said- buffy wasn't at full Slayer strength. And you can you interpret her screaming and begging him to stop, her crying, the fact she stopped him, her nervousness around him afterwards, all that how can you interpret that as a decent, passionate sex scene?
It doesn't make it okay for spike to rape Buffy just because it fits his character. If you read my other post, i loved that fact that the buffy cast and crew were willing to do this. Still.
@xXMusicSpeaksXx i didn't say it was a decent passionate sex scene... i said it was sexual. but i interpret it as the opposite of what you said. like buffy and spike is all about obscene sexual relations like with spike's robot doll. why did you love the fact they were willing to do it? are you a 90s watcher or a late boxset buyer out of interest?
Not trying to stir up drama. Just thought I'd mention that she wasn't able to fend off Spike automatically because earlier in that episode she hit her back against a tombstone, if you remember correctly. It's why she kept touching her back and was running a bath. So, she wasn't at full slayer strength. But I'll also admit that Buffy doesn't have unlimited power. She doesn't always win, and Spike has giving her a run for her money than the average vampire.
Oh wow, I loved it. It's quite short but I loved your choice of transitions! I didn't know the song before, but I'm really glad I do now, it's so very beautiful - thank you!
