When you read a Winston Churchill biography you cannot come to any other conclusion than that he was the perfect man at the right time and place in history. He understood his enemies and could, therefore, be victorious over them. He is a great inspiration and I wish there were men of his 'metal' today.

@MRAK47ification 1st the country is America not North America, for it is a continent. 2nd The colonists were rebelling against "Taxation without representation" and they had already began to form the country, though they may not have know it at the time, before and during the war. Therefore they were not at that time as much "British settles" as a revolutionary people fighing for basic freedoms that should have already been implicated.

@MRAK47ification Actually most of the native tribes fought for the British becuase the colonists favored expansion while the British did not, and knowing they would be pushed off their land if the colonists won most fought for the British. I will say however since then the US and UK have become very good allies and supported each other in nearly every war and conflict it is really unnecissary to bicker about this.

@AndyMcCy I certainly respect your pride in Britain but we must remember 1066, but hopefully that won't happen again. As America's greatest ally I hope that the UK won't dissolve into petty bickering any separate states. I hope that doesn't happen I respect Scotland's voting for their own parliament within the UK but something is wrong when a majority is made with less than 35% of the electorate

i would argue with ur final statement but as an american i dont think i can say my country is the greatest, the past few decades have been a bit of a slap in the face for americans as we see our great nations image tarnished. please dont mistake me for one of those americans who mistakes our military power for absolute greatness and the right to impose veiws and culture.
