  • If you want my opinion I think Good Mornings are more suited for shorter statured people that have shorter arms and longer legs. Dead liftes in this position force you to work at an awkward angle.

  • aren't Shrugs parts of our shoulder.....

  • @Samorahakasadik

I like to work shrugs with back because it's a heavy pulling exercise that complements a back workout. But you could also train them with shoulders if you like.

  • does dead lifts and good mornings do the same muscle?

  • @Dpatx21

Yes, both deadlifts and good mornings primarily work the spinal erectors, hips, glutes, and hamstrings.

  • what do you think about 1 muscle a day alors of isolation exersice for cutting definition ?

  • @hpkiunzy

Whether on not you get cut depends on your diet and cardio. You need to lose the fat in order to get your skin thin and thus reveal the muscle definition underneath.

  • haha! awesome, I always end my back workouts with the bridge. Cool to see someone else doing it, nice vid!

  • What are the Chins? I'm from Norway so I don't understand everything.

  • @Ravipewsh

Chins is just another way of saying chin ups or pull ups. It's the exercise where you grab an overhead bar and pull your body up to the bar.

  • @leemhayward Okay, thanks :)

  • @Ravipewsh Chin up bro,u hang from a bar and pull urself up

  • since the deadlifts and shrugs are heavy workouts, is it ok if i add weight to the pull ups and chins?

  • @branmad777

If you can do 15 pull ups / chin ups with bodyweight, then you should add weight to the exercise to make it more challenging.

  • Good vid man, subbed!! keep it up pleaaase

  • I really like Hayward's videos. Great info but that wrestler's bridge looks kinda dangerous.

  • How many sets per excersise, how many sets in the whole workout?

  • Is it a good idea to work my back, biceps and legs one day and chest, shoulders and triceps another day or is there a better combination?

  • @AaronCahill2011

That's a good combo and one I often recommend to my coaching students.

  • @leemhayward aRE COMPOUNDS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET HUGE?

  • pessima esecuzione alla sbarra

  • hey man, is it ok to do deadlifts on leg days. like today i'ma workout back and tomorrow my legs and i'll leae the deadlifts for tomorrow becuase i dont wanna fatigue my legs the day before i have to work them out

  • @brianvelasquez

Yes, you can do deadlifts with your leg workouts. The deadlift heavily works the hamstrings, hips, glutes, and secondary stress is placed on the quads so it's an awesome leg exercise.

  • @leemhayward Can i do deadlifts the day after a backworkout? I dont really hit lowerbacks on back days

  • every time i do this my lower back hurts after but i keep my back straight can you give me any advice?

  • @thelevy100

Generally when your lower back hurts, it's a sign that your lower back is not in shape. Lighten up the weights and build them back up gradually overtime. You should also try doing high rep bodyweight hyper extensions as well to target your lower back.

  • @leemhayward currently i have stop taking supplement, and i find myself getting 'smaller' in size. Is there any method to increase the mass back again?

  • I understand you are more stronger and prolly know more about working out but as i saw you doing shruggs it kinda looked like you were useing your legs just a litttle

  • i am a beginner an just began going to the gym ,i was wondering i wanna put on alot of muscle mass an be a rugby player build, do you think i should stick to just big compound excercises first or do isolation for muscles i wanna work on more .

  • @130RIAN130

You should include both compound power exercises as well as smaller isolation type exercises for complete overall development.

  • Hey Lee I want to thank you for getting me to learn a lot of things from your video.. when I start listening to vince delmonte, elliott, mike, you..... and some others I was a weakling who can barely keep his back flat at 225 deadlift and this week I set my new PR at 525 So thank you a lot for learning me a lot... even through im not into bodybuilding at all :p!

  • i dig your mowhawk

  • Got*

  • Nice! I would assume that you go your large neck (not including traps) from doing the wrestler's bridge or did you use a harness or some other form of neck exercise?

  • Hey, I'm 14 and I wrestle for my middle school, and im trying to gain some mass along with strength because I'm at least 5-6lbs under my weight class, but it's almost like no matter what i do i stay the same or lose weight. I've lifted weights for about a year now, but i stopped because wrestling made weightlifting almost impossible for me, my energy level is too low after wrestling to lift, and if i push it too much it's hard to practice and I have tournaments every week, Do you have a few tips

  • HUGE

  • ok its a good exercise in ur opinion i get it. but posting this on youtube u may get a young teen in here that is going to try any and everything to get bigger it is dangerious i dont know why u put it in ur video i personally would have left it to myself cause it can injury someone for life if done wrong.

  • Good stuff!

  • I like when the guy walks through the shot when you're doing shrugs.

  • Hey Lee,

With the deadlift, can you do it with two single dumbells?

    Great vid btw

  • so the wrestler bridge will help my lower back too?

  • @SDKsa1

Yes, it's an awesome lower back exercise.

  • @leemhayward Yeah Cuz i was a wrestler now I cant do it anymore because im in a totally different country, i never had anyback problems because we used to dead lift n squat alot plus doin the wrestler bridge all the time. one more question does dumbbell deadlifts do the trick?

  • great video. I wanted to know how many pullups you can do in a row??? Aso, shrugs i usually do them in the bar is it okay if i go light and try to make my shoulders touch my ears. Or shoud i go heavy but when i do i cant go all the way up but i feel the burn?

  • reading some of the comments by some of the users really made me go 'LOL' because they probably didn't do any background check on Lee Hayward : )

  • Lee you only need pullups and bridge try to work up to an uneven pullup ie holding one wrist with opposite hand and a stand to stand bridge also push up with arms and hold don't go on head you don't get a full involvement of back good luck with this

  • hi i was wondering is their a standard weight for trap bars for deadlifitng... are they 45 lbs similar to barbells?

  • Deadlifts are very uncomfortable to me because the bar keeps hitting my kneecaps and the patella tendon and it always hurts there the day after.

Do you have any tips on how to prevent the bar from sliding too close to your knees while still maintaining proper form?

I try to still exercise the erector spinae muscles by doing back extensions and goodmornings but I can't help but feel that I'm missing out on a solid basic mass development exercise.

  • @blaatschaap83

If you want you can go lighter and do stiff leg deadlifts instead. This will still work the same muscle groups.

  • @blaatschaap83 They have a special bar for that. its curved in the middle slightly so the bar bipasses your shins and knees, most gyms dont have it but you can probably find it at a fitness store or online. Hope this helps!

  • @blaatschaap83

DO NOT DO STIFF LEGS instead of deads. they work completely different body parts. stiff deads are hamstrings. Deadlifts (based on your stance) work back.

  • @blaatschaap83 haha same with me thats y i wear knee pads

  • @blaatschaap83 I had the same problem, I use the trap bar instead.

  • Big Lee, tried the back workout loved it.

  • hey lee, i'm really curious about supplementation. Whatever supplements you take (if you take any) appear to be working. I'd like to know because the supplement industry can be very misleading.. I currently supplement with Kre-alkalyn, jack3d, whey protein, and ZMA. Do you supplement?

  • @alucardwillfreed14

Check out my articles on my website leehayward [dot] com I've got a list of my top five recommended supplements.

  • Thanks for all the awesome videos! Good stuff.

  • Damn.. you are getting bigger and bigger.

    Good work!

  • Lee, Do you find doing supersets on different exercises throughout your workout efficient?

  • Bad ass shit bro, keep it up Lee!!!!!!

  • Lee, you are a GOD!

Im going to try out your 7 week deadlift workout. Should I just do maintenance weight on the rest of the body parts and concentrate only on back? Or should I go balls to the walls on everything? By the way.. I added an inch on my arms by using your workout Blast Your Biceps! AND not only that but my bench also went up 30 pounds while only doing maintenance on chest! my triceps are huge now I’m sure that is why!!

  • Great job lee and to the unbelievers I have followed his program I went from 235-250 on bench 365-460 on squat 360-465 dead lift an 50-65 curls( dumbells) this shit works and go try the proton pancacks you won't believe how good they are

  • Good shit lee!

  • @LiftHeavyEatProtein random i know... but your names badass lol.

  • @speedfreak18ish

    Haha, thanks mang!

  • oh and also its been bout 3 weeks and it juz feels like an old guys back lol, when i bend down or anythin like dat expcesially when i wake up, so unno why maby i damaged somethin well lee plz tell me anythin dat i might have wronged my back, and also the day it happened the very next week from then i did it again i was able to deadlift till i got to my max and i cudnt do it cuz randomly it hurted again and i f**ked it up even more i think well it feels the same but unno?

  • lee i have something very important to ask, i do heavy sets of deadlifts, well its heavy for me ive been almost workin out for a year and i do 295 pounds of deadlift, and the thing is i seem to do it wit safe perfect form but unno maby i messed up or somethin but i was workin out one day and for no reason at all when i was doin my max my lower back felt like it was rippin apart but i was still able to continue it, my lower back juz felt painful like a old guys back the very next day, why? help

  • is lee kipping, cos he does the pull ups the same way i do

  • Solid workout Lee!

  • I've seen that last exercise in the kama sutra hahaha

  • Lee, I recently bought the book Convict Conditioning from DragonDoor . com and it has a lot of bodyweight progressions to perform things like 1-arm pull-ups and such. Have you ever tried working toward 1-arm pull-ups? A progression would be performing an uneven pull-up with one hand on the wrist of the pulling arm.

  • no offence, but you look fat, why don't you just go for a lower weight competition and stay lean all year?

  • @BrokenBrilliance He's not fat at all, Have u never seen him without a shirt? ;o

  • @BrokenBrilliance I'll bet you a crispy $100 that you won't say that to his face LOL

  • @badaim3610 give me the money to get there and back and I'll take that bet

  • @BrokenBrilliance When he is doing the wrestling bridge you can see his ribs. That is because he has a six pack hence no fat. Also you can view his videos have him on stage. But one thins is for sure, he is not fat.

  • There is no Subscribe button anymore ;<

  • @m8rox

YouTube changed the color it's now a white subscribe button.

  • Atta boy lee. way to represent.

  • Nice1 lee

  • Gr8 tips for shrugs.

    Thanks for sharing man

  • Lee i do super sets and pull ups in between , is that too much, I usually feel good when I finish and never had a problem with heavier weights.

  • @gj2766155

If it's working for you then keep doing it!

  • Lee, how many exercises do you do per bodypart in a session?

  • @ItzThatGuyShane

It really vary's and will depend on what I'm training for, but I'd say generally 3-4 exercises for each muscle group.

  • Great Stuff Lee! Thanks!

  • Hey Lee, thanks for the workout. It rocks.

  • Lee you are the man....I was wondering if I was performing my deadlifts correctly...spot-on.....Thankx.

  • Superb clip, superb technique (especially liked the pull ups), and superb advice.

  • Great vid Lee, thanks! :)

  • Who the hell is that ass blocking the camera view twice, I hate it when your working out and people just happen to walk by and block your view from the mirror. Gargghh! Rage lol

  • ummm...what is drop down set ??? it would be nice if u could tell me thx

  • @adidsnike

After pyramiding up to your max weight, lighten the weight and do another set.

  • arnt traps ment to be part of shoulders and not back?

  • @hurrykaneecko shoulder/upper back.

  • @ZacaTV ah ok

  • I really love this channel too

Very helpful stuff. Thanks Lee. :]

And also I just wanted to mention

That when I do shrugs I like to

Hold my head down. I don't know

If maybe you do that normally

But it helps you get a bigger

Range of motion for your shrugs

And it helps you get more power

Out of it. Just in case you wanted to know. :]

  • Good stuff here, just slightly concerned about that last exercise "bridge"

  • Should deadlifts be performed at the beginning or end of a workout? or does it not matter?

  • @KingRockets

I'd do them at the beginning when you are strongest.

  • Just what i wanted :)

  • thanks for posting this vid Lee, ive been needing to figure out exactly what in the world ive been doing wrong with my back

  • You had 1 more rep on the DL

  • What do you think about bent over rows? Not compared to deadlifts, but as an exercise in a back routine

  • @k0d14k1

It's an awesome exercise, you could do bent rows in place of deadlifts in this routine.

  • Lee's Canadian like me!!! GOO CANADA

    Great workout!

  • lee keeps getting bigger and bigger, dude's an f'ing BEAST.

  • ah brings back high school wrestling days. nice vid

  • wow i cant do deadlifts even if i use lighter weights my lower back just tightens up and i feel like im close to pulling something i dont think my form is the problem either because i try hard to stay in good form.

  • @guterraz555

Try doing hyper extensions to strengthen your lower back for a few weeks. Then give deadlifts a try in your back routine.

  • Thanx for the tip Lee. I was wondering why my back excercises werent getting my back sore, But when i do deadlifts my back is blown away including my traps. Kool vid

  • lee has one of the best bodybuilding channel

  • @nitinlkoin1984

  • @leemhayward hey lee if i dont have a lower back xtension machine can i sub with deadlifts?

  • i think their missing a workout or 2, but still great vid!!

  • @PblGunReviewShow

Well, yeah there are "lots" of other workouts and exercises you can do. This is just a back workout.

  • @leemhayward pb is just one of those guys who likes to do like 10 exercises per a muscle

  • @leemhayward no i know that im talking bout your back day, you can add in more exercises since its such a large muscle group, 3 definelty isnt enough

  • @PblGunReviewShow wat ev works for ya man..three is enough for me

  • @murphy0847 true that haha, big fan btw lee, keep doing ya thang, btw i tried adding you on facebook but you have to many friends lmao, do you have a fan page?
