a good gtm build perfect runs about $70,000 if you have the time to build it and over $100,000 if you want it done by a professional just check gtmalan.com  people make it seem like its eazy its not and there are alot of parts and add on that you would have to buy......

Nice color. I just ordered my kit and it is supose to be delivered 01/11/2011. I still haven't decided on a color but am leaning toward the silver BMW uses. I already have a Z06 donor car that my son cleaned out a ditch with. I'm hoping to have it finished and on the road by the end of 2011. Still need to get my 911 transaxle and gear box but other than that I will have everything as soon as the kit arives.

I dont want to be the bringer of doom here but the Ford GT, just like the original GT40 in the 60s wasnt really an american product. Built largely in UK and sold in america as american but just about the only thing american is the engine. The 2005 Ford GT had Italian brakes, German wheels, steering rack out of an Aston Martin, Chassis and handling set up by Lotus, bits and pieces out of a German Ford Focus. The list goes on and on. The all american engine was lifted out of a Ford pickup truck.

I already have a Z06 that my son totaled so the donor car is taken car of. Mine should run somewhere around $38,000 by the time I have it on the street, thas basicaly a bone stock street legal race car that will kick most super cars butts

anyone comparing a dealer vehicle to a kit is just silly. This supercar shows you have allot of pride in what you drive. Power adding is totally different than building a vehicle.

Z06's are nice. But you didn't spend 6months-2years to build it.. And their a dime a dozen. I've seen more Lambos and Ferrari's than GTM's, Ultima GTRs, 65 Cobra Reps. I'll turn my head for a Z06. I'll go out of my to talk to someone gasing up a kit/rod/classic. Just so much more prestige involved. Awesome Ride

@originaldriver You have my genuine sympathies because that's really the end of the dream right there, unless FF start increasing the cabin dimensions. I think 6ft 4" is pretty-much the limit with the current design - possibly 6ft 5". Maybe you've heard of the Ultima Spyder - British super-car kit using Chevy V8s? Just as wild (although not as pretty) as the GTM. Ultima have also set the record for a 2.5 second zero to 60. They'd be my second choice, although I think they'll end-up costing more

You can customize a Porsche, Viper, or as I am doing currently with my Z06...These cars i've mentioned are hardly average....gtm's are very unique because they will only apply to very limited people. One big reason is all the decison making that is required and probably the main reason is YOU DO have to build it.....and for the kind of power these cars put out (or should put out) I dont want to be the guy building it...I want "safety" also want crumble zones and airbags.

This car is not for everybody. You have to really like working on cars and the fact that you are going to build your own car. Yes you can buy those other cars with paid warrenties, because they don't come for free and park one of those cars next to a guy with the same exact one. There are only 200 hundred gtm kits that have been sold in the world and maybe half of them have been completed, so you can be asured that you are going to be the only guy on the block with a gtm. point of this

kit 20k, doner car around 9k,transmision 4,500,and this is just the tip of the iceberg, unless you are skilled at all trades, like mechanics, body work, wirering, and so on. yes the cars cost upwords of 60k to build. the rims and the custom interior don't cost that much. i can tell you from experience that i had 45k invested into the car the body wasn't even on the car yet.

thank you, we put the ls1 from a 1999 vet. The engine is stock, it come with 345 horse. We did not do any mode to the engine because the trany is stock to handle 350 horse. The budget did not allow for upgrades on everthing.
