Well actually you could 'lock on' or headshots, head shots took a lot of skill(more so then MGO2)

New players would commonly use AA(auto-aim) but a good HS could own an AA user, or someone skilled with AA(yes it took skill to use proficiently) could take on a HS user. You needed quite a balance (at HS and AA) to be a good player.

This is overrated, completely. I played back in the day, and the MGO we have now is far superior. Loving the original is another fad made up by the internet community. We do it with many things. I'd like MGO2 (MGS4) more if I didn't have to do level-up bullshit, just to run a little faster, or to have decent techniques.

MGO1 wasn't perfect, but it was more about skill than putting in hours, and Sneaking Mission (everyone vs Snake) was far superior and fun.

And the weapon pick ups created a reason to advance through the map.

Oh, and the best Final Fantasies (4+6) were on the SNES, and I'll take Metallica, pre-Load, vs. Load-onward any day.

Metallica's older albums are better because they were a passionate young men with punch and vigour to their music...i.e. not middle aged businessmen going through the motions as they are now. The best Final Fantasy games were on PS1 (VII) and PS2 (XII). It's not just about age, sometimes it's just about what is best. Are you saying everything newer is better? As that would be just as bad. It's not as black and white as that. Some older stuff is better, some new is better.

Each version of MGO has something that the other doesn't. This one seems to cater more towards "TACTICAL ESPIONAGE ACTION" which is what metal gear is all about.

This vid made me sign the petition. I have MGS3:S but I never got to play it online, and this is the first good gameplay vid I've seen. MGO2 is just a shoot-em-up bunch of crap; it basically feels like 3rd-person CounterStrike, except infinitely laggier and glitchier. And Konami does a shit job of moderating the game, and the signup and lobby system is just set up horribly... I could go on, but the point is this: This looks fun, and I know from experience that MGO2 IS NOT. Thanks for the vid.

Yeah, the new MGO has some nice ideas, but the leveling up is awful. So is the default character speed, and the limited abilities.

Also, I kinda liked weapon pick ups in the middle of matches, created a little more variety, and also, FLAME THROWERS!

And Snakes's Sneaking Mission is much more fun when it's 7 on 1, as a opposed to a bunch of people playing TDM with Snake running around.
