  • Charlie is Shite. 100% agreed Grandmaster Mel. People spout the most horrendous shiite after snorting. Pure Egomaniac Bullshit.

  • dedicate this one to whitney housten!

  • sweet tune, SIMI BOYS

  • Ironically, Grandmaster Flash was doing "white lines" during this era.

  • @69in89 He also didn't know about this song even being made, Sugarhill just fucked him over completely

  • So there are seven people on the cover - I assume the Furious Five and GMF himself. Who is left?

  • @unifieddivide1 good thinking batman no idea

  • music today is fake!!

  • reminds me of shaun of the dead

  • Duran Duran did an amazing cover of this tune, but listening to both extensively, nothing beats the Grandmaster Flash version. This is the clear winner.

  • man this brings memorys!!!! loved the 80

  • Tune one of my all time favourites got me dancing plenty

  • If it's Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, why is there 7 of them?

  • @xbladewolf grandmaster- flash!lol!:-)

  • White Lines was THE club song of the 1980s, no other being close.

It is singularly responsible for myriad dates, couples or Heaven knows one night stands.

NOBODY stayed seated when this came on! Boys & Girls (including club staff) that didn’t know each other even from entirely different countries would just fall all over each other to pair up, to cut a rug to this song.

What happened after that, was up to them at the time.

    Great song!

  • still a dope track

  • ... wonder how much blow I've done while listening to this..........many pounds!!!!!!!!!! :) clean now

  • a million magic crystals painted pure and white, a multimillion dollars almost overnight, twice as sweet as sugar, twice as bitter than salt, and if you get hooked is nobody elses fault.......higher baby and dont eva come down.....a bidness man is caught with 76 kilos he out on bail and out on bail and thats the it goes....guess they didn have r.i.c.o. laws back then, conspiracy baby, fuckin awsome song..good ol days

  • @xense1 That's talking about John Z.Delorean, ya dig?

  • @xense1 Are you kidding?

Ricky Ross & Detective Michael C. Rupert are eye witnesses, along with Frank Serpico.

CIA with Skull & Bones senators are the ones bringing in all the smack & blow.

When your child is caught with some of it they are thrown into a //private// prison owned by the judges & attorneys, to be worked as a slave for 25 cents an hour for the rest of their lives.

  • this needs to be on GTA V*****

  • who are the 19 idiots who dont like this song

  • oooooooh I get it now . . . .

  • ONE

  • i wrote a rap song. i believe it's original. it's about how i have 50 billion in the bank, 27 bentleys, how i cap haters with my fo fo, and that i run a city and how i move "mad" wieght. for extra originality i added some scarface references.

  • @muskie1976 sounds shit lol !!!

  • @muskie1976 can ya lend me a few quid man?

  • @muskie1976 And if you REALLY want to be original, be sure to hire Diddy to produce your video and appear in it.

  • I agree. These new singers are horrible. Makes no sense. These young kids don't know how to live. They need to take lessons from our old school artists.

  • @MsPferguson maybe this is an over-generalization?

  • when rap was AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • im proud to say im 14 and know what good music is. FTW :)

  • This is when rap music stood for something

  • shaun of the dead (Y)

  • The ultimate break dance song!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg...

  • Back when black music had a good lesson to it instead of Ho's Bitches and Crime is cool

  • FREE BASS!

  • Rappers with a social conscious back then made it palatable for all to hear. They didn't need to tell people how good they were - we knew.

And there were no F-Bombs dropped every 15 seconds like their brothers today do.

Too much hate today, not enough love.

  • This or "New watch alert... Hublots.... Or the big-face Rollie...Got 2 of those"

    ???

  • Grandmaster Flash and the furious five....that's 6 persons. On the front of the lp are standing 7 people. Which guy doesn't belong there?

  • @32richard STeve Jerome, dont you remember he was the king of the throne.

  • never thought i would have sniffed coke or smoked the dreaded rock.....but there yer go time tells a story

  • coca - cola rules ; )

  • This was THE club song of the 1980s.

It is responsible for many a date, couples, or even Heaven knows one night stands.

NOBODY stayed sitting when this song came on! Boys & girls that didn't know each other and perhaps were from different countries all together, would just go ahead and pair up just for this song.

From where that went, was up to them afterward.

    Great song.

  • @kush619W its about cocaine you prick

  • @JrsRage Cold War jams.

    Uuhh Rahh!

This is THE club song of the 1980s, hands down none other close.

    LOL gtfo

  • Rappers where the smartest artists that cared for the morals the youth at the time, now , they just want kids to fuck some chick & get aids. This is how ad this society has sunk. clap clap reality T.V

  • real hiphop..with a message

  • 80s rap: saw the ramifications of hard drug-use; and at least tried to warn people.

modern rap: glorifies drug-use, prompting them to do it.

just one of many things that are part of this crazy world.

  • Großartiges Lied - wundervoll. Da hängen so gute Erinnerungen dran.

How about, write in English ? ;)

  • @sclapione - WHY? German is a wonderfull language ;-)

  • I used to have a Jag, a Daimler and 9 other cars, a jewellery busines and a fat wallet. DDD dont DDD dont do it...I speak from experience....but I always was a greedy bastard who thought moderation was for weak people. how wrong I was

  • 'Steppin Off' was the first rap album I had bought and will always be my favourite :D Damn I miss those days and now all we got now on every MTV channel is the same cheap nasty shit that all sounds the same :(

  • Where are the loose, ass, hoes? the bling, the BWMs, Ferraris? Rap promised so much, then came the likes of Tupac, biggie whatshis dead face, 50cent ,snoop shitty shit and fucked it all up for the money! rap has become everything it once stood against for!

  • To have been there, and back...and have this as a constant background soundtrack, ...utter elan. GMF did it. Great work of art, pure and simple. The message could not have been better said...or better played.

  • This was the era of tha true glory of rap. Look at tha crap today on radios and you see what happens when you forget your history

  • This was the era of tha true glory of rap. Look at tha crap today on radios and you see what happens when you forget your history

  • @blumace22

No it wasnt. Mid 80's to late 80's was the glory years. Plus let the young kids live, some good artist are coming out.

  • Thumbs up if you just sniffed some lines when you heard this son...........

  • When rappers had something to SAY, other than "look how vulgar I can be and how much money I have."

  • un gran clasico gracias. ***** =)

  • isn't this the national anthem of colombia......

  • @junkman19571 uhh, that doesn't make much sense, does it?

why would the producer (Columbia) of a product (coke) release a song urging you to NOT use their product?

  • I lived this and damn near died love to listen to this and remember not to touch it

  • 290,000 views at time of view. Wow.

  • Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5 = 6...But there are 7 people in the picture. :/

  • 13 people likes the other type of white lines...

  • did grandmaster flash invent rap?

  • @TheTrampolineMen proabably started with inner city soul funk of the 70's, kinda like Afrika Bambaata

  • real music... has a real message

  • look at it like this men were the blessed ones to know this music used to be made

  • Once again, the people try to read into music their own perverse meanings. Like Christians reading anything but the truth in the bible and twisting and distorting it to their own needs.....The song is anti drug. Ya all knows, dems blacks don't all use drugs.......

  • Is the beat Liquid Liquid - Cavern?? If So thats a sweet breakdancing track [:

  • Lol, this used to be my favorite tune to break to back in the 80's.

  • this shit it DYNOMITE

  • so nostalgic

  • Just might remember if you become a consistent user for years it will burn out the pleasure centers in brain. you may not recover to normal brain function after quitting the drug. you'll always feel you need the drug because the brain adapts to the extreme release of dopamine ect. by shutting down the production and send/recieve transmitter/resceptors.

  • This song is sort of the underlying message that Ice-T uses too. Just enough good law abiding in it to produce but ' The hell it isn't for dopeheads too' lol. Twisted just like all of us are. Government says no? question it. Don't go out and overdose, but truly no harm to try something similarly addictive as nicotene.

  • Damn, in retrospect these guys were totally awesome. Loved 'em back in the day but all these years later....

  • ah the days of good root rap.

  • FREE BASE!lol

  • @riveraalberto658 haha I'm only 21 :)

  • Partied like a ROCKSTAR @ The Palladium in S.F. til the AM when this came out!

  • this song is pretty cool...

  • SHAUN OF THE DEAD?! THUMBS UP if you already just knew this song is DOPE. PERIOD.

  • @pattybeeee I feel for the youth of America nowdays, if not for movies, they would not have a clue what real music is, lol.

  • @sphinxrising58 And shitty movies at that lol .... Hollywood is a fuckin' nightmare lol

  • @pattybeeee well its up to you guy to show us..my brother showed me! u cant tell me a damn thing about your time i dont know!

  • Sniff ain't what it used to be.

John Kelly's mix with Barbra Tucker- i get lifted on dance wars cd is puckka.

  • base

  • Even though it's ostensibly anti-drug, this song perfectly captures that 80s club culture.

I played it for my daughter, who speculated that the lover being addressed intermittently through the song is not a woman, but coke.

  • @EyeLean5280 naw, it's gotta be a woman, can't be coke, where would she get that idea.. LOL

  • @EyeLean5280 Wow yourdaughter is so insightful, has she had any other epiphanic visions. A modern day female nostradamus, i almost had a statueof her saving orphans in africa commissioned

  • @bone0944 - Sarcasm! How original! How clever!

But considering my kid is only 10, I thought it actually was a pretty good insight.

  • She's only 10.

  • @EyeLean5280 At Least your daughter is on the way to having a much higher iQ than you Dumb Dumb

  • @theyoshimoto - I hope you get the psychological help you so clearly need.

  • SHAUN OF THE FUCKING DEAD!

  • Judging by this cover the group should be called Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Six.

  • Chemically speaking it's a seratonin, norepriniphrine and dopamine re-uptake inhibitor. This means there is more of it runin round your brain. It's an insane combination. Weed, on the other hand has 2 active ingredients, THC and CDB. THC is a dopamine agonist. CBD is more or less the opposite. Too much TCP has the same effect as cocaine with regard to dopamine. It just takes longer to get hooked and dumb.

  • @jh2009001 THIS COMING FROM A NERD THAT HASN'T EVENT TRIED THE DRUGS HE TALKS ABOUT??

ARE YOU JEALOUS OF THE PEOPLE ON COCAINE THAT HAVE THE TIME OF THEIR LIFE?? ITS CALLED LIVING BEFORE YOU END UP ROTTING IN THE GROUND.

AND WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU ON EARTH IT'S NO WONDER PEOPLE NEED DRUGS!!!
