she forgot to tell that as a catcher that you CAN catch foul balls for the out! Even If the batter tips the ball with his or her bat, the catcher can catch that for the out. Catcher can catch any nearby foul balls for the out. That's why the catcher has more opportunities to make outs than right field.

Okay guys, she's right. On any pitch you want to get your body behind the ball...That's why you have gear. But you SHOULD although it's not a necessity (if you want to hurt your hand you can, it's your choice) tuck your hand behind your back or behind your leg to avoid it getting hit. And dropping to your knees or is not going to affect what the ump calls. He sees where the ball goes and sometimes, maybe it will, but not most of the time. They usually look at your glove. I'm a catcher, I know :D

softball angel, if you got advice from a professional your making it up because there is no PROFESSIONAL SOFTBALL!! and some can throw to a velosity that if you did catch with two hands the hand not in your catchers mitt would be in extreme pain...if it was slow pitch like in this video sure but not fast pitch...

ummm...i'm pretty sure your not suppose to be on the balls of your feet. thats not stable, and you can fall over easily...pretty sure your suppose to be on the insides of your feet.

oookkkk...1st of all u dont actuly need to use 2 hands when ur a catcher...i am a catcher and our pitcher can throw very fast so i almost brock a finger with 2 hands...i kinda use 2 hands when i see that some1 is steeling but my hand is only their when the ball is almost into the glove.

exuse me this is how u catch i acutally catch an i use two hands thats what pros have told me and if u watch professional softbal like college ALL OF THE CATCHERS DROP TO THEIR KNEES AND UPP DOESNT CALL IT A BALL AND I DO THAT TO ND NEVER GET CALLED A BALL UNLESS IT REALLY IS ONE SO SHUT UP CAUSE U GUYS DONT KNOW ANTTHING ABOUT BEING A CATHER THIS VIDEO IS GOOD

ya i know!!! people dont know what they are talking about!! she is doing everything correctly!! my trainer is a college level catcher and thats how you do it (just she doesnt have the secondary stance and thats fine cause this is probally for beginners)

Ok so 1st if ur playin sb you u DO NOT catch like tht. Knees even (as in top) enough apart so tht u can go down. NEVER use 2 hand. If the ball doesnt go less thn an inch of where ur position ur gonna break fingers.

You Usually just stand..... just position your glove like a basket so ur pitcher has a target, catcher job is simple in softball
