  • ok i have few question n id appreciate answers pls, first for a ps3, to play with dolby surround completely, i need to buy the headsets and the amp right? i heardsomething bout having a surround system n all tht, is it true? n also bout the rechargeable battery , we need tht for the wireless system but nt the wired one right? n wat exactly is the function of the optical cable... answers wud b appreciated n ty :)

  • do you need to plug any cables in youre tv?

  • Job well done

  • I have a question I would appreciate it I someone could answer, can I listin to my music on both the wireless and wired headset or does only one of the headsets offer listining to music (I'm not talking about Listing to music like at the same time or something)

  • @BliztecWAP Heyy,, well im not too sure if this is going to answer properly, but as far as i know you can only plug in an mp3 such as an ipod or something and play it when your gaming on the wired mixamp, but as far as the wireless unit goes, there is no slot available for you to connect an mp3 source, only way i can think that you can play music on the wireless mixamp would be through the computer or xbox or ps3. buy the wired version, much handier to use.

  • Wait your not 14??

  • AX720's or A30's?

  • @Kriiptonz For what system matters, AX720's are amazing ,but only for ps3.I used them for ps3 and its great. For xbox its pretty bad because it gives you a connection to connect to the xbox controller to chat. When that wire/connection thats connected to the xbox controllers is moved a bit it makes a HUGE static noise and bother you & other(others can hear it because its so loud) The AX720's are pretty much done with me. im selling them or trading them in for a A30 because they seem better.

  • @Kriiptonz a30's for sure

  • you do kinda sound like you have a lisp

  • this was a legit review until Ke$ha was mentioned.

  • @RickieRobbie What about like 7 seconds before that when he mentions Fireflies by Owl City?

  • i was recently disapointed with the astro custom speaker tags... if you use a picture of your own it will be way darker than you'd think by what is shown in the custom tag design template. : ( a waist of $24.

  • these or turtle beach px5?

  • if you wanted the mic on the other side all your have to do is switch jacks with the mic

  • Are there any headsets in this price range that have higher sound quality?

  • Great review as always. i have the a30's but i am considering a40's because i don't like the mic on a30's. You said you might try some different mic's. Have you had any luck?

  • does the mixamp come with the a30's

  • @chAoTicMoJo11 if you get the audio system. but if you just get the headphones no

  • @chAoTicMoJo11 you can buy a package to include it, otherwise no :(

  • these or tritton ax pros?

  • @chAoTicMoJo11 Astro....

  • Should I get this or tritton ax720?

  • @TBoGTGTA If you listen to music alot and game a lot then get these, but if your casual gamer and dont need new headphones for an ipod gettrittons, hope it helps

  • haha know how i know your gay!...you listen to kesha! hahahh

  • "It sounds like I have a lisp and Im 14 years old" no offense but did you record this vid with the mic?

  • @MrThatGuyWhoTrolls21 He's talking about the inline.

  • @tv321123 nah no bass at all had them

  • best headset ever i have the px5 also and thought they were amazing but I wanted something smaller so got these so light like paper also wireless pixmap awesome noise reduction and the bass knocks !its way better at telling you the direction of a enemy way better then px5 get it

  • @soothsayerlive and the a40s are even better

  • Seem's Astro is including optical cables with their Wired Audio Systems now (My A30 system has 1 but in place of the piggyback RCA jack)

  • I'm on the verge of buying Astro A30's here shortly. Seeing this review, the only thing that seems to be a real hinderance is the mic. Anyone here try replacing the mic and found success yet? If so, what mic please.

  • @GifteDiZNicE Personally I've had no problems with the mic and the quality of it is good unless it fucks up on u. I've tested it on audacity and my friends tell me they can hear me clearly and much better than others, honestly its no problem.

However, if your mic fucks up the most common gaming mic is the Zalman Microphone Zm-Mic1 High Sensitivity Headphone Microphone.

    hope that helps :)

  • do you have to buy the mix amp seperate

  • I love Kesha :)

  • I have seen multiple reviews of both the wired and the wireless A30 Audio systems and I am still not sure which one I should get. I plan on using them with PS3/360 and PC and I won't be taking them anywhere such as tournaments or anything. Is it worth the extra convenience of the wireless for the price in your eyes?

  • @MrJmarsh56 well if you watch MLGSteggys other review of the wireless audio system he says that the highs are not very good on the a30 headset but while using the wireless audio system it boosts the highs so i would go with the wireless for only 30 dollars more cant wait for mine to come in 1 more day!!!!

  • @MrJmarsh56 i love the wireless aspect of it! i have the wireless. Its very nice to be able to move all around while wearing, say im listening to music through the ps3 while cleaning the basement. Also, its great not to have wires for people to trip on when you want to sit back a bit and sit on the couch. This may be biased because I do not have the wired, but wireless is great! And I love the A30's!

  • btw it is $200 now

  • you sound 6 in this review, so wouldn't 14 be an improvement?

  • @xXHarryR18Xx Gtfo troll.

  • @Depribbs no

  • do you need a mix amp?

  • @hulkbuddy1 you can buy the headset without it but you need it for surround sound.

  • I'm 14, and I have a deeper voice than you

  • @DeevyC Congrats.

  • @DeevyC

does anyone really give a shit? stfu

  • "Ya i listen to kesha"- Dude you also listen to Fireflies. l2live

  • if only the trittons didnt look so ugly and they worked with an ipod, but sadly they dont, and i was planning on getting the a40's BUT... it would kinda look gay when ur strolling up and down the street with a huge ass a40's or ax pros, so these a30's should do it for me and now the a30 audio system is only $200 so this headset is great for people that wanna get beats by dre but also wanna play games, like me!

  • /watch?v=rd11AmpRbXQ

  • There is obviously no ploblem with the audio since IM NOT GONNA LISTEN TO FIREFLIES

  • @SchecterZV a30's

  • For sure getting these at MLG Columbus on saterday :D

  • r they good for my ipod i have the a40s bxr blues but to big and bulky for an ipod

  • @SchecterZV They're both good... I'd say the A30's are my choice.

  • @SchecterZV It depends on your personal preforance

  • Very informative review. Thanks a lot!

  • What does a mixamp do?

  • is astro A30 better tha the Tritton Ax720 ???

  • Should i get the turtle beach px5's or the Astro a40 wireless 2011 or the astro a30 wireless 2011?

  • @PLUMPAWESOME Astro a40

  • @PLUMPAWESOME depends on what u want to spend most of your time doing while wearing them. if u wana be gangsta and stroll around with headphones round yo neck listenin to dem tunes go for the a30s, if u want to sit in a room and game until ur stomach eats itself for for the turtles beaches or the a40.

  • @holrin29 thanks man

  • should i get turtle beach x11s or Astro A30s?

  • @SilentlySkilled101 depends on what you want, games only=x11 or if your you want to listen to music and gaming or for just causal use, then its the A30s

  • @SilentlySkilled101 astro a30s ftw

  • This is only 200 now!:) but i dont know if its just for now.

  • im going up to my cousins to work in the summer so when i come back im getting these

  • i cant find a video of a setup, where i see him putting the cables themselves in? because im not too sure on the optical cable thing, can anyone direct me to a video of it please? also i pretty much have my heart set on these but i want to clarify that the game volume wont drown out the in game chat? and is there much different in the optical cable and standard RCA ? Thanks

  • True. Now I'm starting to work with my uncle so it's all good. Thanks for advice

  • I can't get a job yet I'm 15

  • @MclovinDynamite You can get a job at 14

  • @MclovinDynamite Actually you can, regardless of where you live, unless your parents say otherwise. There's nothing wrong with a little hard labor for money. It doesn't have to be an "actual" company paid job.

  • Astro A30 or Astro A40? I can't decide :/

Anyway, I'm raising up for either one but still can't think which one I want, I like both!

Also, if it helps, I'm 13, I love competitive gaming, and I also have a casual side. So basically, I'm stuck between. Please help.

  • @pokechips I have the A30's right now and they're great for playing my games, but the mic is absolutely horrible. I'm constantly having to readjust the position just so people i play with can hear me. The over the ear design does get uncomfortable after awhile of use. Its sounds great, but its not perfect. I ordered the A40's last night and they should be here in the next week or so. I can give you an opinion on the 2 when i get the A40's.

  • @GilbertusesanIbanez thanks dude. just pm me when you get them.

  • @pokechips I got the headset, and honestly I say go for the A40's. They are way more comfortable, the mic actually picks up my voice, and they're not as heavy as they may be lead to believe. I like the A30's, but the A40's seem to be a better headset in general.

  • @GilbertusesanIbanez thanks :D

  • @GilbertusesanIbanez I disagree. I believe that the A40s and extremely overwieght. I think they need to simply re-design the headset to make it lighter and less bulky.

  • @XboxHacking101 While the A30's may be lighter, they are constantly falling off my head and ears. They were fine but I like the cup to surround my ear, because it seem to snug to my head better. I don't think the A40's weight is anything close to being to heavy. They may be heavier than some other headsets, but I still find them to be more comfortable over a longer period of play time than its lighter counterpart. This is my opinion of how it feels, not yours,. Everyone's different.

  • @GilbertusesanIbanez I know that I was complaining about the A40s before, but I just realized that it really isn't even that heavy. I think that its because of the fact of how comfy the thing is when it sits on your head is why I don't even think about the weight anymore. I'm glad I did not consider getting the A30s because I LOVE my A40s.

  • Where do u get money to buy all this?

  • @MclovinDynamite Ever heard of a job?

  • you dont have a lisp? And youre not 14? UNSUBBED

  • is it really worth buying another head set just for the mic ?? If so what would you recomend ??

  • its $200 now for a30 and mixamp

  • A30 or turtle beach dpx21 please answer anybody

  • @sk82live912 DPX21 But i prefer the Turtle Beach X41 because they are amazing. :D

  • How long will these last?

  • He said it makes him sound like he's 14 years old but I'm 14 and I have a deeper voice than him.lmao

  • I have a lisp, and I'm 14.

  • @roccoownzu2 sucks to be you

  • @Biotrin Most people don't even notice it...

  • @roccoownzu2 wats a lisp

  • Do you just have all of these laying around? Like, "Oh, I guess I'll use these ones for the hour."

  • When listening to music, how is the bass?

  • @SBxxxStudios it's very clear, you can't hear it thumping in your ears but the clarity is very very good.. if you mean is the bass crisp and clear then very good, if you like ridiculous amounts of bass then probably not.

  • Guys i'm having problems with my A30's, i can speak and it picks it up and my friends can hear me, i can hear all the game sounds etc, but i cannot hear any form of chat, i cannot hear private chat, game chat, party chat, voice messages none of it, (This is on XBL btw) can anybody help me?

  • @StealzaR You need to go to the pop-out dashboard (when you press the big X) > "Settings" Tab > Preferences > Voice > Go down to "Voice Output" > Pick "Play Through Speakers" or "Both".

  • @StealzaR This happened to me on the A40's. All you need to do is switch the ends on the Xbox chat cable.

  • @StealzaR I had the same exact problem, your post is a bit dated so I dont know if you've had it solved yet. Its the controller cable thats bad. If you haven't you need to get a new cable.

  • do you need the mix amp to play online on xbox 360

  • @timmy67e yes

  • @timmy67e If you want to be able to talk, yes. But if you just want to hear, no.

  • very professional review with good information in a well prepared video. Thanks for your work, its hard to find quality reviews sometimes.

  • LOL, "Yeah... I listen to Ke$ha" xD

  • good job on the review

  • i dont like bass-ssyy sound while gaming,,, i shadows small important detailed sounds.. i like this headset :D

  • lol Owl City??

  • you said that his is bettter than Sennheiser pc 350 but why is that just pure proformance wise or is convience also in mind when you rate this higher than the 350 also would you recommend the 360 over these two or no?

  • can you hear footsteps like in black ops clearly and recognize where they're coming from?

  • @1UpPepperMint In general terms? Yes. Many reviews commented on how they can hear where there enemies where quite clearly, based on their footsteps.

In Black Ops terms? It's not the headset that makes it fall sub par, but the game itself. This is the same with GT5. These companies slacked a bit on the the ability of surround sound headsets, although that doesn't mean they are horrible, just not as good as they should be. The good news? Black Ops is looking into fixing this with a future patch.

  • @JayXombie hey thanks im thinking of getting the a30s but some reviewers said that their ears hurt after some time playing. would these hurt my ears after a couple of hours playing or should i just get the a40s?

  • @1UpPepperMint Most reviewers also said there ears were fine after. But it's all preference. I don't mind on ear headphones as I've owned many pairs of them.

You'd either need to hate on ear headphones, have really sensitive ears, or you must've been playing a reaaally long gaming session for them to hurt. But even then it isn't that big of a draw back unless you really let it get to you. If you play until your ears hurt, you should be taking a break anyways.

What will you use them for?

  • hey im 14

  • @MrXM40A3Intervention i can tell by your user name that you are not 14 and are in fact 8

  • @xXHarryR18Xx at least he has the astro a3os AND WHATCH U KNOW ABOUT THAT?

  • @CavemanJackman I have A40's....

  • Has anyone purchased these and used them while playing black ops? I am kinda stuck because footsteps in black ops is a little bit lower then the footsteps in MW2, so my question can you distinguish where the enemy is coming from while playing black ops? I would really appreciate a reply, thank you.

  • @sleek462 I can't tell you for sure, but I know that people say you CAN distinguish footsteps with the A40's and A30's. A lot of people have no doubt of the abilities of the surround sound in them. However the only controversial topic would be the sound quality for the price. I would highly suggest searching google with this question, as it is a popular topic.

  • @JayXombie Thanks for the reply

  • @sleek462 I did some digging and people say these A30's perform great for gaming, you can hear foot steps, and all the stuff around you. I'm picking up a pair soon, along with the mix amp.

  • @JayXombie I was going to get this pair, but the mic on this one ain't up to par with the a40's and their is a bit more bass with the a30's in my opinion that could drown out some well needed noise in games like CoD so I think I'm going to get the a40's instead. After I did some research it's all on your preference for which headset is better for you, your still going to get what you paid better then a majority of headsets out there. Cheers

  • @sleek462 Very true about all being preference. I just don't want to end up spending all this money and restricting them to home use. But alll preference :]

I think there /might/ be some better ones, if I really looked hard enough, but I'll be buying the Astro mix amp regardless, so to get it in a deal really does it for me.

  • nice review bro :)

  • thanks

  • If I'm getting this do I need and optical cable ?(or should I just get turtle beach x41s?)

  • @sk8erboy3414 the astros are way better than turtle beach

  • @sk8erboy3414 get the astro a30 going to last longer looks alot better, and better sound, turtle beaches are so great my friend got them

  • @reloadpkz yes as far as i know is that you cant even use it with consoles without the amp.

  • if price is no problem, should i get the a40 or the a30

  • @totalh4x a40. Better sound quality and more comfortable.

  • @Nashoba721 thx i did go with the a40s actually

  • I am getting these a30's but I don't know what mixamp to get?

I thinking about getting the new 5.8 one.

Is there a big difference between the fat mixamp and the new wireless one?

because I am not a serious gamer so I don't mind.

  • @GodmodeMuch well the fat one as you call it has better audio quality

  • Astro fixed the exposed wire on the Astro A40 along with the update of the mixamps.

  • @MLGSteggy is the mic problem that bad? im thinking about getting either the a40's or a30's, kinda leaning towards a30, but is the mic so bad that id have to swap it?

  • your wish has been granted now astro gives a 3 foot optical cable when you buy a audio system

  • Guys I need help, I want too buy a headset and I have choosen too buy astro headsets with the mixamp. But I dont know wich one, the astro a30 or a40.

I am specific looking for a headset for games and not for anything else. I have just one issue with the astro a30, will the sit good on the ears? Because I read a review where a guy had a big head and he sold the headset because they didnt fitt good. So how do they fitt on the ears?

    Thanks for the answer.

  • u listen to owl city? gay

  • When i was looking at buying a gaming headset and i saw this pair it looked absolutely perfect, as i could use it with my IPOD which was a great suprise. But then i saw i had to buy the MixAmp with it too which is about another £100! So my question is does anyone know another good gaming headset for less than £100 that i can use with my IPOD without having to buy anything extra (i.e the MixAmp)????? Thanks

  • @oCLaRKeZz well youll only need the mixamp for xbox and ps3 but if your a c gamer you wont need it

  • is the mix amp neccesary or can you use the headset like that with the Xbox 360

  • i just won astro a30 gameloft special edition ones

    i hope there good!

  • Are the a30's or a40' a better purchase?

  • @MLGSteggy so what would be better for gaming and listening to music, the A30 or A40? please anybody respond!

  • Love your reviews :D

  • Ey Steggy does it block out all background noise or can i still hear my mom yelling at me when im playing xbox live lol?

  • what about a tritton ax 720 mic

  • out of all the gaming headsets you've reviewed which one do you think is the beast?

  • i was woundering if i should get the a40s but they are a bit too expensive for me at the same time a30s r aswell but on a discount right now but i live in Australia and im a high school student so which 1 should i get?

  • @Gaaranarutol a30 simply cos im just guessing ur not a mlg player so a30 is better since its more affordable thts wot i think i will do :)

  • awesome video. awesome thread.

  • If I am a budget gamer and I want to get the A30's.... Is it worth saving the extra money for the A40's? (In your opinion)

  • @mikebingham34 go teh a30s. a40 build quality is terrible.

  • oi m8, can u please answer this one:

wich cable would u need to plug in the headset to accept calls ?

idk if its even possible though

    thanks

  • Very nice video, helped me solve my decision between the A40 and A30 headset.

  • Comment removed

  • is the rechargable battery pack necessary or can you run the amp off AC power?

  • The black ones look so bad..

  • Thanks for taking the time to review the A30. =D

  • A really decent in depth review. I've been trying to decide between these and the a40s for a while. Might've swung me for these as I like to listen to music and the better bass response appeals.

  • are a30's beter than trtton ax180 or are the trittons better cause im looking for the perfect headset and quick

  • @MrBLACKNINJA510 The a30's deffiantly, they're 5.1 whereas the ax180's are stereo.
