you really need some thyristors for a railgun, igbts probably wont have a low enough on resistance to get a good pulse out of them, in addition to their slow rise time
@user100ja no, used semi-conductors aren't the best thing to sell publicly, you do get the 'walking dead' ones that pass a basic test with a battery, but fail under full load :(

It's better to use trigatrons rather than IGBTs for a railgun...much higher response time.
