I totally agree. A guitar makes only as much difference as the guy playing it. A brand gives you an idea of reputation, not playability. I got a J & D Brothers V-300 V-guitat. Costed me less than about $ 100,00, BRAND NEW. But it plays just as good as its infamous Gibson counterpart!

Also, a guitar has to FEEL good too. Not just LOOK cool. Otherwise you may end up with a 5 grand guitar, a kick-ass amp, if the guitarist doesn't feel like the guitar belongs in his hands...
