I just finished Tales of Monkey Island, and looking back Escape from Monkey island isn't as bad as people say it is. It has everything a MI game should have. Goofy characters, silly scenarios and most of all: FUNNY INSULTS

That is the only thing I really missed from the T.T.G. version. The insult sword fighting was awsome, witty comebacks.

i tried this game when i was a kid, got so fucking confused, took ages to beat the arm wrestler, then i was doing a fucking sword fight with somone, then theres a cannon thing pointed at my mansion, then i need some guys address but the blind guy is missing his monkey, so i tried every combination (literally i wrote them all down and tried them) but nothing. fucking annoying.

MI3 is the point-and-click game of the GODS. thanks to the animations and such for the time, every scene seems alive.

MI5 is.. meh. i just played through it. They perfected the 3d models, but there were no really smart jokes, and when i heard the u-tube joke (youtube)

@Warlord42 MI4 was just plain stupid, that's the problem. Monkey Island wasn't stupid until MI4, it was genuine fun, the dialogues were very well written. Haven't played MI5 much, but from what I saw it is just as stupid as MI4 :(

Not for Monkey Island it doesnt.

Even though Monkey Island 4 made the jump to 3D the gameplay remained the same. You still searched for items and solved puzzles just like the previous games.

The only thing that changed was the visual style which im sure most people will agree diddnt have the charm and look anywhere near as good as Monkey Island 3's lovingly hand drawn 2D Visuals.

I wish they had went with 2D for the upcoming Tales of Monkey Island but unfortunately that is not the case.

Tales of Monkey Island utilizes the 3D engine far better than Escape did. The use of camera motion is quite dynamic for an adventure game, and the controls, while somewhat different, are still point-and-click, not NEARLY as frustrating as the "console friendly" MI4 keyboard interface.

Indeed! Though, I grew up with their third game, which in my opinion is one of the best, but then the delivered this hoax. I think as in matter of fact that the voice of Guybrush in this game is at it's place - more than I can say about the rest of it. The geeky voice goes with his personality as we've got to know him in the earlier games, and this voice is somewhat very similar to CMI if I'm not much mistaken, which fits me great. I dislike this game though, hope someone will reproduce it.
