  • you know when a person is doing what they are meant to do when you listen to cat and his music, he was born to do this, this is not learned from a book or school, he was born with this god given talent,, thank god for that!!!!

  • Haven't heard this in years! GREAT upload. The demos are so telling. Cat's talent as a writer, singer, and guitar player was genuine!

  • Music changed because people did :( Lets change back Im sick of Mac Music!!!

  • hes definitely one of the top five songwriters in the world

its made my day finding these demo's

youngsters today don't know how lucky they are being able access tracks like this on the internet.

when i was young i spent a fortune on LP's

  • Need a good copy of Cat Stevens Shift That Log on here.

  • God I'm envious. That's an artist, foks. Tell your children.

  • can any one remember him playing at the Van Dyke club ? Guz

  • We have to say, he has a unique voice!! with his brilliant ability to change voice layers sometimes you think that there are more than one singer singing!!!

    I love this man...

  • I saw him at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis sometime in the 70's. I was around 33 or 34. He had but one album out at that time, "Tea for the Tillerman." I loved every song on the record. I suspected then that he would write many more great songs. And of course, he did. And I agree, this is one of his best.

  • Cat's lyrics, voice, and guitar are simply excellent here. One of his best songs.

  • Beautiful to hear this 'raw' pre-official version

  • for sure; finding these demos and being able to access them here. WOW. What I treat. I've always loved his music.

  • So fine; SO FINE! WOW - those looks, that voice, that talent and a lovely person helping widows and children. Great artist.

  • Best version with the extra verse...here.

  • this is one unforgettable song, that's for sure!!!!

  • This is pure musical genius on every level and it tugs at the heart too.

  • It's amazing how young he was when he wrote these songs. Eighteen when he wrote "Blackness on the night", At twenty one for 'Maybe your right' and so on. Its simply amazing.

  • Still my favourite .

  • This is my favourite Cat Stevens song , ever. I can only ever think of him as Steven.

  • love the laugh at the start of this. Great sound on this video. Thank you for posting it.

  • so beautiful.

  • I always felt that Cat Stevens was in a class of his own. He put "pure" heart and soul into his music- his lyrics were not just words that rhymed-- his lyrics leaped out at the listener- drawing them ever more closer- embracing them. As a singer and writer and performer- there is no one finer. JJ

  • well said,

    I totally agree!

  • @idratherbelucky You put is exactly right.....could not think of a better way to say what he was.....

  • @idratherbelucky @idratherbelucky I agree. Cat Stevens has everything. He writes beautiful songs, and is a great musician. His voice is distinct and beautiful, and he himself is handsome. He has all the elements, plus a beautiful soul, to make a great performer. He has so much charisma!
