No, Kuznets did not predict the trend of a in intensity of social stratification in post-industrial societies. That is the information in the book I teach out of (John J. Macionis -- Societies the Basics) but he does not give a citation for that addition to the curve. What you said about Japan is interesting. When I lived in Okinawa years ago, I did notice what you said about the decrease in religious and informal institutions. Thanks for your input. I will mention it to my classes.
