  • cervélo S1 is by far the best alu bike on the market. Don't go above 2500 USD for an SH ULTEGRA SL or an SRAM FORCE grouppo. You should be able to find an S1 for the max price of 2000 USD with SH ULTEGRA SL of SRAM FORCE. You will have the best bike for that price (even if the S1 is an alu frame). Starting from 2500 USD, you should be able to find an KUOTA KEBEL with SH ULTEGRA SL or SRAM FORCE. Best bike for that price-tag.

  • hello again. thanks for your replies. how did you go about when you determined the frame size. do i really need to get fitted by a professional bike store?

p.s. i agree that the paint job for 2009 looks way better

  • @doerti12 Normally your local bike shop will fit you with correct bike size for free. I recommend getting proper fit for the bike you you intend to buy. if your not buying from your local bike shop just go in there and pretend and while you are in there ask them what size bike they recommend for you.

  • unfortunately i don´t have any cervelo dealers nearby. did you have your bike custom built with each component individually fitted for you or did it come in a package? after reading some forums online i think that the 54 cm frame is the one for me. I'm 176 cm which is like 6'9"-6'10". is that about your size as well?

  • @doerti12 I bought mine with the cheaper Ultegra Gruppo and alloy handle bars and then upgraded it piece by piece when I have the money.

  • @doerti12

    WHOA!! HOLD UP THERE!

I am 5' 7" and I ride a 54cm. You are way too tall for that frame!

You'll want to go in and get fitted; it is the ONLY way to be sure.

You can get the S1 as either a frameset w/ seatpost and fork or as a complete bicycle in either Ultegra or SRAM Force. I do believe they skimp on the crankset though.

Good luck on the new bike.

  • Hi. What bikes did you own before the cervelos? I am looking into getting my first road bike and wasn´t planning on spending that much money, but since i plan on doing some serious training i figure i might as well go the extra mile and get something i wouldn´t have to upgrade later on. Would the S1 work as an entry level trainer or is it primarily for racing?

  • @doerti12

Hi you should be able to get in to the 2009 for around $2000.00 or the 2010 for around $2500.00 ... great bike for entry level also can be used as triathlon as well as road bike with the reversible seat post. Put a nice comfy saddle and a carbon wheel set and you'll be good to go.

  • @doerti12 I prefer the 2009 and older models as the 2010 paint scheme looks terrible in my opinion.

    Good luck!

  • Something red in seatpost - what is it ?

  • Thats just red electrical tape I put there to mark seat height. I have upgraded Crank set to SRAM Red as well. Will make updated video soon.

  • Its around 17 lbs as is.. After I change out the cranks, it will weigh under 17 lbs.
