  • i have a d16y8 97 civic coupe..would this benefit me to do this..put a y7 block under my y8 head??

  • In general if you do mini me swap and you still have a 7,500 rpm redline, its crap. A mini me with a redline less than 8k rpm will fall on its face. considering if you havent done any major mods to it. A dohc ecu with a piggyback makes a huge enough difference.

  • @EvokDubstep ohh thanks but i decided to go with a B18C, GS-R engine instead, im getting a 98 civic ferio for $1800 with it installed and imma just swap engines. thanks though it came in handy

  • what is the name of your cluster ?

  • hondas are slow without boost

  • Isn't the only difference between a non-vtec D16 and a vtec D16 the cylinder head? The bore and stroke are all the same... So, even a stock vtec D15 or D16 would technically be a mini-me right?

  • @Beldar4214 Technically, yes. but not all d15's have the same stroke. The D15 that comes in HF crx's have a 84.5 mm stroke instead of the standard 90mm. Also the deck height is different with some d series blocks so it would be the equivalent to milling the head if you have one of the shorter deck blocks (D15B JDM) . i Think even the D14's had a short deck block.

  • not bad i got a d16z6 block with a d16y8 head and a d16b tranny and man that thing is fast keep up with hatch swap gsr... you should try it if u got the parts

  • @tracievangs i have the same thing, how mch power you getting? and do you know if you get ZC pistons, if youll need sleeves?

  • @BYCURE213 I'm not sure. I havent tried it.

  • @tracievangs damn... guess ill just have to find out the hard/fun way lol

  • @BYCURE213 No, you dont need sleeves.

  • I just got a 96 CX and this is exactly the same swap I"m going to do, I just need a 96-98 EX that I can gut for parts.

  • what tranny did you use?

  • it might just be me, but, i think that going about 100mph and holding the steering wheel with one hand is stupid... you tell me.

  • dude he chirped 2nd...VTEC 4 $500??? I want me a DX!!!

  • @brimessj it has the engine from a ex, which is v-tec, hence "mini me swap", you want an ex is what im saying

  • hey lil low EK thats the guy with the awsome mini me write up??! isnt it?

  • nice mods. have u timed your car? wat other plans do u have for it? u gonna tune it? can u let me know on my page? its under chueyi, silver hatch w black hood. thnx.

  • vtec should be engaging at its stock point, and for the mini me that should be 4500 (considering its a non vtec motor turned vtec). anything before and it will cause problems, and anything after you risk a lot of problems (vtec has oil squirt-ers that help the pistons at higher rpm, if vtec doesn't engage, neither does the oil, and you run the risk of your pistons heating up and loosing the oil and then welding itself to the motor. just talk to my friend who did it, he was pissed as hell)

  • @bastec666 ...The only thing that makes sense about your post is that vtec motors have oil squirters and if vtec doesn't crossover than it wont send oil into the vtec oil galleries. The first section not to be rude is nonesense and you should wish you never posted that about vtec stock point and anything before or after 4500rpm is bad. That is not true what so ever dude. Dont think im hating cause im not at all. I just thought you would like to know since you are telling other people this crap.

  • @1JDMb16aEJ8__magic17's mini me is a d16y8 bottom end and a d16z6 top end right? If that's the case, 4500 is the stock crossover point for vtec to engage.

98civicdx said "nice vid, i got one, i set my vtec engage point lower" but you shouldn't because that will cause many problems. he should leave it stock. that's who i was referring too, i should have put @ at the beginning lol but i typed that back when youtube didn't have the auto @name stuff....

  • @bastec666 Well using a y8(vtec) bottom end and a z6(vtec) top end wouldn't be classified as a mini-me. Mini-me = non-vtec bottom end mated to a vtec top end, but i see what your saying and i think u meant y7 bottom end.4500rpm will not nessesarily be the crossover, it all depends on which ecu is being used or if the factory existing one is chipped.A z6 p28 ecu factory crossover is 4800rpm and y8 p2p ecu is @ 5500rpm.The vtec-e motors crossover (@ 2500rpm<--Just for mpg) so technically not bad

  • wow sohc

  • i finished my mini-me 2 weeks ago.. didnt check out your write-up though, i used my stock ecu and just chipped it, got a kit online. your third gear is sooo much shorter than mine, i want your tranny. mines a 95 cx, d15b7 with d16z6 head, runs great but third is so damn long

  • @JWSpeedWorkz ex tranny should work. GR are closer and wont hang methinks. always double-check a YT source:)

  • God bless your write up dude! I'm almost there.... Still debating on a 4-1 or a 4-2-1 header.

  • nice results...i just read your write up of the mini me swap on the forum and the pictures helped alot...my civic is slow as hell though...93 dx with D15B7 with exhaust and cold air intake

  • i have a 1993 civic dx sedan which also has the D15B7 and i thing it is quite quick for a car with 350000 k's! i am comparing it to a 1997 civic cx hatch

(same motor but an exhaust that i cannot even fit my pinky in!!!)

  • Hey, does anyone know the song thats playing?

  • sounds nice, pull just as hard as mine d16z6 stock, how fast your hitting?

  • sound like crap, pull like poop, get a nissan

  • lol... nissan is alright, took an G20 with my d16 by 4 car.. lol

  • nissans are slow without boost

  • u love the cock

  • @TheY0ungTurds nope, their not for what they cost.

  • @TheY0ungTurds sr20vvl>k20

  • pulls pretty good

  • does anyone kknow what the song is?

    love that style of music

  • way to steal this from lil low on jdm universe

  • nice mini me..and this is coming 4rm a kid with a b series

  • its juss great to see a d16 blow out a ls...good running motors in the same chassis ofcourse

  • is that possible? a d16 beat a b18b?

  • yeah ez. b16 spin way faster and if you got the right mods, they can lay it down.

  • you mean d16?

  • ya i know what u mean...i have a stock rebuilt b16 in my 97 hatch...i had 1 mini keep up and was gunna pull on me but he missed 3rd ...but theres nuthn better than eating gsr's on the freeway u kno?

  • stop being cheap with d series and step up to b ya dig!

  • hi everyone i live in California which means emission laws are fuck'n gay over here.....anyone knows if this mini me swap will pass smog on a dx 1995 civic?

  • no it wont work the state of california does not allow head swaps therefore if a dx didnt come with vtec then it cant pass....but if u put lets say an ex in a dx and its a stock complete swap with no check engine then u gotta go to state ref...my car is bared ^__^ hopefully that helps

  • ls over mini me all day, few hundred more dollars but a lot more upgrade potential...

  • true, but you can build the fuck out of these motors.

  • damn i wanna do a minime swap too but shit california's too strict on emmision laws...would it pass smog like that...a d15b7 long block with a d16 head(vtech)..i plan to do this swap

  • keep the old head, and swap the heads before SMOG

  • he peeled out in second gear. I read your write up on jdmu on how to do the mini me swap. Im going to use it to do my own swap soon.

  • heh nice vid.

hey.. on aalllllll these cvic vids.. iv never seen n e one duble clutch.. lol..

    y's dat?. o.O;

  • It's not needed on a modern engine. I've never seen 1 transmission made after 1985 that has ever lost a syncro.

I still heel-toe, but its only because I can.

  • heel to toe? not being rude or n e thing, but i asked about duoble clutching :P

  • I know, first part answered your question. Second part was my personal opinion.

  • ohhh xD :P i knew dat. lol.

  • Sory guys buts its just a waste of money.....why don´t buy a b16a or b18c and you get a perfect base for tune.

  • because its what makes this video great...he did it with a d16!! think about it, smoking people with da D SERIES! yeah, see, thats why lol

  • a stock ls hatch would burn that bitch

  • stock ls hatch would smoke a mini me? haha you kinda of stupid for thinking like that. i mean your really stupid. how can i smoke eg ls swap on 1/4 miles and b16s? tell me that?

  • a stock ls with a b16 tranny will walk on the mini me =/. I'm thoroughly unimpressed, third gear was longer then my stiffy on tramp tuesdays...

  • It does cost a little more, but its different. And little more economical. A well done D16 can keep up with a b16 on flats and twisties.

  • yes, no matter how u look at it if u plan on keepin ur honda for any length of time ur likely gonna wanna go dual cam anyway

  • i also have a minime whith just cai catback an headers and it looks a litle faster what mods do you have .also mine is a ex whith the d16y7 bottom

  • how much hp u got?i wana do a minime on my car also

  • He's probably getting about 190hp 130ft/lbs

  • tats sick im thinking of doing a mini me too but who knows

  • tats sick im thinking of doing a mini me too but who knows

  • tats sick im thinking of doing a mini me too but who knows

  • tats sick im thinking of doing a mini me too but who knows

  • a mini me is to take the d series motor thats not vtec and make it vtec....

  • wats a minime conversion?

  • a single cam d16y7 and u mate it with a d16y8 vtec head and tranny... so u get more hp!!! about 140hp or something..

  • or a6 bottom and z6 head my personal setup pushing 18 horses runing chrome !

  • bump for a fellow jdmu member!!!

  • hey seems alot quicker than the Y7. You should get that p28 chipped next!

  • Pretty sweet setup... I like it!

  • how fast u ran on track?????????just woundering...

  • well actually more, the basic mini-me package CAN cost 400, my bad.

  • cool

  • too bad, what a waste of money....could have bought a nice house..not to mention REAL RESPONSIBLE>>>>

  • how is that a waste of money? That entire rebuild usually costs about $400 at the most, less if your smart!

  • HOUSE????? in da dump... for 400???
