Both Hinckley and Kimball are not prophets of God. We have the bible as our final authority as prophets ceased.

If God loved the people of this earth enough to place a prophet on the earth so that his LIVING word would be heard, wouldn't he also give people of latter-days a prophet to direct them in his way? Doesn't he love us just as much as he loved those who have passed long ago? AND wouldn't he place a prophet on the earth when it's most needed which is certainly today? This was my very first conference. I joined the church in July 2006. President Hinckley is such a wonderful man. He has a sweet spirit. I know that even though he has passed on, the work will continue. And we still have a prophet on earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who will lead and guide us in the things which we should do. I am VERY grateful to be a member of this church. I know that it is true.

Anyway, you can know beyond any doubt that he was a prophet. Study the Book of Mormon, follow the instructions in Moroni chapter ten.

One word of explanation about those instructions: praying with real intent means that you are willing to follow through on the answer you receive.

For EX: The Bible prophecies Jesus will be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2),and confirms the prophecy in Matthew 2:1.

Well red, there is an answer for your confusion. However, if I clarify that for you, you will raise additional points which will only serve to postpone your securing the truth. So I won't be the means by which you delay embracing truth and the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

There are so many people who want to find the truth and either the missionaries find them or vice versa. Then we teach them and they are delighted to find the Gospel of Jesus Christ. red: I wasn't being clear enough...I never try to prove anything. People must do what they need to in obtaining an answer directly from God, as to the truthfulness of the LDS church, its teachings, the Book of Mormon being scripture from the Lord through His prophets, etc. It is not a matter of one person proving something to another. The privilege and responsibility is yours to find out directly through personal revelation from God to yourself as to its truth.

Red but was not the Bible translated by many men over the years? The BoM was translated through the power of God and never to be translated any further. Does not James say "If any of you lack bwisdom, let him ask of God, that cgiveth to all men liberally, and dupbraideth not; and it shall be given him." (James 1:5) And "by the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things" (Moroni 10:5). To find out for yourself you need to pray with real intent.

This man was so kind and gentle...a true testament to all he believed and taught. The quickest way to determine whether the Gospel is true is as follows: read, ponder, pray. "...if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that Pres Hinckley is the prophet of God. Though he has passed away the Church of God will still continue on. It is the Lord's church and He will call another prophet to continue the work of President Hinckley. I am grateful and thank God for a prophet in these the latter days.
