It is so horribly tragic, the number of people who are disowned by their parents/family for being homosexual. This fact was clearly illustrated one evening at my brothers (who is gay) birthday party. Both my parents, my sister and I went to his party and there were about 40 people there. Most of whom were gay men. At one point, they all stood and gave us a standing ovation for simply "being there". Many of them had been shunned by family . We were shocked. It was heartbreaking.
Things we never said come together; the hidden truth no longer haunting me; tonight we touched on things that were nver spoken that kind of understanding sets me free ..... I LOVE THAT PART
Do you all not already know that G-d means god so why bring it up its god may it be father creator omega or Jesus or what its all still god. She chose to say it that way for her own reason
God. The word is God, Lord of the Hosts, Father. Who is typing G-d and why ? This song is a psalm of Comfort, Love, Acceptance : holy concepts, regardless of anyone's affiliation or politics. So many parents, so many names on a big quilt, and all those shiny rocks in those graveyards that record so many Lives that are meaningful and will mean so much to so many left behind.
Elton had a poor relationship with his father, part of his original harm,he always wanted his father to recognize him for who he was and love him, that is why he whore big glasses, landish costumes and flamboyance onstage,to get his fathers attention, and maybe partly why Elton is attracted to men
@mactheartofwarfare Nah, costumes were to get attention from fans. As to sexual orientation no on knows, all are different & my brother was raised by same loving, attentive father as I; can anyone tell me what made them straight?
Definitely one of the most touching songs ever released by anyone. Every time I hear this, I just want to cry because it reminds me so much of my Grandfather who recently passed away. Rest In Peace, Grandpa. I never misjudged your love.
Let me just say, if you listened to The Last Song from beginning to end and were not touched in any way, you have no soul.
One of the most Beautiful pieces of Music,Words and Piano in the History of Modern Times. So much Love,So much Need and Hurt ...Please Dad.... Please Just Love Me,this is all I ask.
The most iconic song of Elton John. It was dedicated to Ryan Smith who died from AIDS in the end of 80s. I remembered this song when I was kind in 80s. Who is not touched by this song indeed has no heart all.
@aaaaa895 If you mean the hemophiliac kid who died in 1990, his name was Ryan White. If not, apologies for the correction. I didn't notice there was an actual dedication. I know that the album was dedicated to Vance Buck, who was one of Elton's past boyfriends.
this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard.. and like someone just mentioned who isnt touched by this song, is correct, u would have to have a heart of stone....Thisis a beautiful song but it has so many deeper meanings than just the song....
I'm a nurse, first licensed at the height of AIDS. I'll never forget one young man. He was gay, alone, dying and so afraid. I was passing his room one night and heard him crying. I went in, sat on his bed and wiped his tears with my bare hand. He tried to pull away at first, saying "I don't want you to get sick, too." He was dying, yet his first concern was for me. I told him that it wasn't spread that way and he clung to me, sobbing. G-d bless you son, wherever you are. I'll never forget you.
@LukaShalom Whenever I listen to this song, I think of those living today who have HIV/AIDS. It's hard to listen to this song and not cry. Beautiful song.
@LukaShalom I do not understand the nature of G-d. Beyond the nature of whether Jesus was "Messiah" doesn't matter, in this instance...he said something like, "What you do for the even the least of these, you do for me." In that moment, you made this poor world perfect. Many blessing to you.
My Dad Died a Year Ago.....I am only twelve.....This Song is so hard to listen to, without crying.....especially because my dad was the one who played keyboards on this song.....
@gkjmb Ben, so sorry about your father. 12 is a tough age to lose the person who should have been the one to teach you how to be a man. Never be ashamed to cry for your father; absent heroes are always worthy of our tears. I hope you have an uncle or a grandfather who can take up what he left incomplete in your life. Praying for you, son. G-d bless.
