Does it switch amp channels? That's all I want is chorus and some delay for my clean tone, and some delay on my leads and not have to tap dance or have to buy a multi fx loop switch, it'd be nice but that way is a little pricey, any suggestions ?
Hi. can someone HELP ME please. I bought a GT-10 recently and cant get rid of the slight hiss i hear. and have done some research and seems to be the issue with all GT-10's. its not really a fault....more if an unavoidable thing. but when i hear people's recordings on youtube...its so clear. that hiss is not there. So far i have heard that to get rid of the hiss it needs to be grounded/earthed. is there any other way of getting rid of the excess electric charge? some sort of smart power box?
This pedal is no good unless you love metal with that distinct digital/effects style... So Jazz/Rock/Blues etc etc... This pedal is no good, unless you are a Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani lover! I bought this expecting something more, but wasn't for me. But it is a bloody brilliant pedal!
@MooseTremonti I bought this as well, despite I'm into classic rock and blues. The reason I bought is that its modulation effects are really good - my $341 spending on GT10 is way less compared to the price of individual effect pedals required to have at least half the functionality of GT10.
So it's still worth the money and use it with a tube amp....
guys i wanna purchase this one..can u tell me and wich kind of amp sould i purchase too to get the very best of this gt?? (mainly for metal and for smoothy solo sounds like steve vai's and stuff)???
hey guys, im into a lot of metal stuff, an i hav a vox vt100 amp and i want more didtortion and effeccts and what not. anyways is the distortion better on this or should i go for a single pedal? any help? Thanks
@SomeoneStoleMyPants for metal, get a electro harmonix metal muff. you wont need all the effects on this, and if you play some clean parts, get a chorus. it will sound better and save you some money. and it will retain its value.
@tumitama1 i bought mine last wk @ G/C. they had $100 any item over 499. plus a know a co. that sells the video to learn how to work them. i bought videos from them and they're great.
I have a BOSS GT10 and recently purchased a Line 6 Spider 4 amp. In my view this isn't the best amp for my GT10. Can anyone suggest a portable amp i can purchase. Anything between 75W - 100W.
@mrbajan Either the ROLAND Cube 30 or 60 to the Jazz Chorus 120 but thats Marty Friedman talkin. I've tried it on a 65 twin reverb suitcase and its excellent.
used one of these at a gig a few weeks ago this video doesnt do it justice sounds absolutly amazing live, i was able to get so many tones all from 1 preset using different picking techniques :D
I go through phases where I buy one of these processors, then turn around and sell it because I only use a tiny fraction of the effects and then once or twice a gig. The other problem I have with these is that my last one was a huge tonesucker. Finally, NOONE makes a digital distortion/overdrive that sounds good to my ears. That said, inevitably I go go back to getting one because I miss having the option. May go back to one and put a decent overdrive in front.
the reason they assume everyone is a metal guitarist is that metal guitarist are the only egotistical assholes that buy all this crap, most other guitarists can actually play and don't need cheesy effects ,(how many times have you heard a jazz guy play a wah wah pedal) ps I play metal ,I just hate all this garbage
@stratluvr well said. if a fender pro junior and a ds-1 gets you your tone, use it! same with line 6 amps! people need to stop looking at the gear and start listening to it
oh man... I cannot connect my GT 10 to my pc properly for some reason. I connect the USB ,I continue selecting the driver mode, restarting and then a message appears on my monitor saying that the connetion is ok. But despite that I am not able to access via LIB program to my patches etc or download to my GT 10 any patches cause whenever I try to do so a message appears at LIB saying that MIDI devices aren't set up correctly! But I don't have any MIDI device to connect!!!
Metal/rock are great but its not the only damn music in the world... When people think guitar they think rock... that is so annoying... where is the blues, country, r&b, experimental, jazz etc?
@miki89hun Dub fx uses Boss gt-10B, the bass guitar pedal effects, not electric guitar pedal effect Boss gt-10.That's why i ask whether I can put it on the microphone...
After all of it's promotion and hoopla it's still a boss and sounds thin to my ears needless to say I sold it and am still using my tonelab le and occasionally my pedal board but hate taking it to gigs.
Wow crappy unit. Looks all fancy and flashy which will trick most people into worshipping its awesomeness. Then your tone will be humiliated by a 0.1 watt tube amp and a fella with a cheap guitar.
@DirtyCityMick do you think about Zoom 9.2 tt ?? I´m always watching/reading reviews about these 2 multi effects...and the line 6 unit that I don´t like that much...I think the Zoom is the winner in my book but not shure if I´m going to buy it
@svanurmg sometimes I think about the pod thingy, and other times I think about the tc electronics g system. But in the end I realize that I'm better off with some high quality individual pedals.
@slickrocked Agreed! There was some great guitar playing going on to demo the unit but this video did nothing to "sell" me on the unit. The sounds came across as thin and just plain annoying.
I used a GT-3 on the road and studio for years. I noticed some of the higher-gain distortion pedal/amp sims have a weird Doppler squeal to them, but the delays are fantastic... and the Vox tone is amazing especially with the Tubescreamer sim on it.
The OD loop it has on it was very handy when I added a Hughes and Kettner Tubeman 3 channel stomp pre. Then after I got my Marshall TSL100, I had it set up where I ran the FX loop thru the OD loop on the GT3 so the delays and ODs could be used.
Question: Can this pedal be used to create tones WITHOUT using the EZ Tone? Because I don't need a machine to make my tones for me... I like tweaking on my own.
Am I the only one who thinks these multi fx units stink in live situations through a tube amp? They sound great in the headphones or for direct recording but other than that it's crap. Boss can't you do a nice high end multi fx that uses analog OD's and Dist. like the old ME-5 c'mon guys!!!
@MrJennion Because metal guitarists are usually the ones buying half-arsed multi effects boards, about everyone else has enough taste to buy great single pedals... Except for poor students like me of course. :)
you got that right. i'm mostly that for the most of the time but i also play many kinds of "guitar songs". in most video demos and stuff it's like a default to assume that every guitar player is a metal guitarist and that they are looking for "the awesome" metal sound. that's really annoing! there is so much great sounds out there to check out that we all should try. ..greetings from Finland anyway :)
@MrJennion because rock or mtal are the main reason of us that play guitar hehe, and that´s not the main intention of the pedalboard, you can also usse any other music style, like jazz, funk, folk, punk etc. The matter is how you set it
@MrJennion I think thats their target consumer, It does have all those tones for different genres but metal is the manliest and this thing is "built like a tank"
@MrJennion Nah, I was kidding. I'm studying for bachelor degree in music with classical guitar as main instrument. But I'm definitely more into metal music than romantic, baroque, classical and even contemporary music.
@MrJennion i agree with ya. i like metal, but i also like to play smooth jazz. there is section where 1 of the guys was playing some cool smooth jazz tone.
also, these processors sound absolutely nothing in person, like they are shown on video. in any demo video, the tones from these processors are mastered and edited. pretty much anything that can be done to make a recording sound professional, is done to achieve these great "tones". you will never get this at home.
@TheHammersFall Not true. It's all about the playing. Mastering doesn't physically alter the tones. There is often some post-eqing done to guitars, but it isn't going to change the sound massively. Your playing style creates the tone the most. In a majority of the demonstrations uploaded here, it sounds really digital and ick just like the actual pedal. It's just the good playing that somewhat hides that digital sound.
i wouldnt recommend this, or any digital effects processor. I've played on them all, and they all sound thin, digital (fake), and suck real tone away. Sure, you can set up some cool tones, but nothing will ever compare to a good guitar plugged straight into a good amp. People rely too much on effects these days to hide mistakes and poor technique. If you must have your effects, do yourself a favor and buy stomp boxes.
I'm TORN between this, the Digitech RP1000 and the Line 6 Pod HD 400... Which has the best sound quality? As in the amp models and distortion effects?
DO NOT , buy this , i got it for christmas , it may sound good on here , now fuckin way will it sound good if you play heavy metal like iron maiden or metallica , the preamps are crap on this and even if you put a distortion infront of them , it sounds shitty , sounds digital and fake , im returning mine and swapping it for a ME70 , my friend has one and it is amazing , and much simpler , Boss gt10 has too much shit thats confusing and pointless on it
@adriansmith76. Don't sell. I promise you if you use this in the proper way you will find this the best thingever, the worst thing about these products is that they dont tell you how u can use this in the best way possible. The best you can do is to buy a power amp... a really cheep and good one is a marshall valvestate 8008 2x 80 watts and then buy a 2 channel 2x12 or 4x12 cabinette and then you're going to hear the reason you should keep your gt-10. atleast try it at the local store. WBR // MN
This thing is amazing, try making your own sounds from scratch, one setting at a time, start with the pre amp and then add compession and then use the eq to change the sound by scrolling throught the preset eq settings, find the one you like then try the pitch shifter set to zero, it add some real soothing out of the sould, of course reverb next, and delay if needed. I hope I don't sound like a magazine editor.
if your thinking of getting one of these... dont, the GT-10 is way to confusing, and for all the effort you put in to getting your sound right you just end up with the same that you get from a ME-70.
The ME-70 is a great board (and personally the distortions you get out of the ME range are loads better than the GT), and no digital screen to screw your eyes up at, give me the knobs on the ME-70 any day of the week...
i have the Gt 10 in its great i thnik its the easier guitar processor i ever had for the sound if you already know ur sound u can make it on any other processor
santana said that ur sound u born with it its good to have a sound like vai or others but have to find yours
i have the Gt 10 in its great i thnik its the easier guitar processor i ever had for the sound if you already know ur sound u can make it on any other processor
why cant boss get some gutiarists to demo for them that dont use shit cheesy distortion sounds from the eighties, horrible sweeping and shredding hormonies that sound like steve vai with there skin tight leathers and womens haircuts do they really want to sell there products!!! pah..
BOSS GT10 actually is a very good investment especially if you want to make a home recording. Definitely not a PRO quality, but for home recording for your demo CD's it will actually do the job for anyone who cant afford to buy High quality amp, guitars, pedals, recording console and Microphones. all you need is a cheap guitar, a PC, BOSS GT10, and you're set for recording.

also, these processors sound absolutely nothing in person, like they are shown on video. in any demo video, the tones from these processors are mastered and edited. pretty much anything that can be done to make a recording sound professional, is done to achieve these great "tones". you will never get this at home.
TheHammersFall 1 year ago
@TheHammersFall Not true. It's all about the playing. Mastering doesn't physically alter the tones. There is often some post-eqing done to guitars, but it isn't going to change the sound massively. Your playing style creates the tone the most. In a majority of the demonstrations uploaded here, it sounds really digital and ick just like the actual pedal. It's just the good playing that somewhat hides that digital sound.
emcitement 1 year ago
i wouldnt recommend this, or any digital effects processor. I've played on them all, and they all sound thin, digital (fake), and suck real tone away. Sure, you can set up some cool tones, but nothing will ever compare to a good guitar plugged straight into a good amp. People rely too much on effects these days to hide mistakes and poor technique. If you must have your effects, do yourself a favor and buy stomp boxes.

you have to be an engineer from the nasa to understand it lol!!!

I'm TORN between this, the Digitech RP1000 and the Line 6 Pod HD 400... Which has the best sound quality? As in the amp models and distortion effects?
OptoOcto 1 year ago
@OptoOcto Line 6 HD 400 by far.

DO NOT , buy this , i got it for christmas , it may sound good on here , now fuckin way will it sound good if you play heavy metal like iron maiden or metallica , the preamps are crap on this and even if you put a distortion infront of them , it sounds shitty , sounds digital and fake , im returning mine and swapping it for a ME70 , my friend has one and it is amazing , and much simpler , Boss gt10 has too much shit thats confusing and pointless on it
adriansmith76 1 year ago
@adriansmith76. Don't sell. I promise you if you use this in the proper way you will find this the best thingever, the worst thing about these products is that they dont tell you how u can use this in the best way possible. The best you can do is to buy a power amp... a really cheep and good one is a marshall valvestate 8008 2x 80 watts and then buy a 2 channel 2x12 or 4x12 cabinette and then you're going to hear the reason you should keep your gt-10. atleast try it at the local store. what sound does He using in the 80's rock guitar style? it's great!!
peolo18 1 year ago
This thing is amazing, try making your own sounds from scratch, one setting at a time, start with the pre amp and then add compession and then use the eq to change the sound by scrolling throught the preset eq settings, find the one you like then try the pitch shifter set to zero, it add some real soothing out of the sould, of course reverb next, and delay if needed. I hope I don't sound like a magazine editor.
ManuelBetten 1 year ago
if your thinking of getting one of these... dont, the GT-10 is way to confusing, and for all the effort you put in to getting your sound right you just end up with the same that you get from a ME-70.
The ME-70 is a great board (and personally the distortions you get out of the ME range are loads better than the GT), and no digital screen to screw your eyes up at, give me the knobs on the ME-70 any day of the week...
and you will save yourself £70

Now that L6 has released the HD series, will Boss release a successor to the GT-10?
kenshin3002 1 year ago
@kenshin3002: Actually, Boss already has the GT-Pro, which blows away any L6 product, but it's a rackmount only unit.

epitaphium1986 1 year ago
BOSS GT10 actually is a very good investment especially if you want to make a home recording. Definitely not a PRO quality, but for home recording for your demo CD's it will actually do the job for anyone who cant afford to buy High quality amp, guitars, pedals, recording console and Microphones. all you need is a cheap guitar, a PC, BOSS GT10, and you're set for recording.
