Theres always a riot every time my university beats DUKE in basketball so... the riot police thought it would be smart to blockade the main street before the game ended. So, the police set up barricades and made a wall of riot shields. There was like over 50 officers fully prepped for the big riot.
It turned out there was no riot or any type of gathering outside. Next day, picture on the front page of our newspaper(a wall of riot shield wall with one guy crossing the streets!!)

Also the game was at night!!! Therefore the police should probably have been working at NIGHT as well........unless they had a time machine and knew the outcome of the game.

Theres always a riot every time my university beats DUKE in basketball so... the riot police thought it would be smart to blockade the main street before the game ended. So, the police set up barricades and made a wall of riot shields. There was like over 50 officers fully prepped for the big riot.
It turned out there was no riot or any type of gathering outside. Next day, picture on the front page of our newspaper(a wall of riot shield wall with one guy crossing the streets!!)

Great win.. but no reason to get out of control. FUnny thing is the "pictures" the students took of the police in riot gear is fake..Look at the police riot shields where it plainly said 'Polis" and the use of water cannons and it being daylight. These are obvious photos from a demonstration in Europe. Most likely during a G8 summit... Just idiots trying to make the cops look bad. MOstly it was peacful but ther are always jerks who use it as an excuse to cause damage and go wild.
