DC might "funkier" than TR...but better? I think that's a matter of opinion. They are both phenomenal drummers (with different styles).

physically counting isnt that important. if you can just visualize how the rhythm is constructed and understand when your hits are then you can just feel it, i doubt the bassist is actually counting

.. and that´s exactly what I meant by "counting" - once you´ve evolved in playing you know where the beat is .. as for some stringplayers it seems difficult to see through that - what a shame for me being a drummer ;o) ...
