  • This is certainly a more ragtime-esque version of the piece. I like it, but I feel like it defeats the purpose, seeing as the true 'stride' genre that this piece is a part of is really an evolved version of ragtime. For example, the part at 1:47 would normally have the 'interrupted baseline' that's characteristic of stride pianists. I still admire this interpretation, and I can see he's a fine pianist!

  • c'est extra , j'adore avec quelle fantaisie il joue, et pourtant dieu que c'est difficile.

Encore bravo de me régaler. Jacques.

  • please tell me I can buy this recording somewhere? This specific one? I love it!

  • @whenimsixty4 his album handful of keys, i think its on itunes and spotify

  • @Henry1993bc Thanks! I found it on Amazon, added it to my wish list!

  • Is this the original version? If not, is there sheet music for the version he is playing?

  • @mkwiieric Well, it's an improvised version of handful. I don't think there is sheet music for this (there is for the original Fats Waller version though).

Improvisation on the basic level means to take a piece and combine elements of other pieces in that piece.

The more experience you gain by playing this music, the better equipped you are to improvise.

If you are really good, you can make up your own fresh ideas and combine them into the piece.
