  • Thank you!! Worked just fine! I;m using Ubunto 11.10 and I just opened a new terminal and typed exactly what you did (ls to find user name) and then passwd "my user name" then hit enter. It asked what I wanted my new password to be and then it made me retype it. Then it WORKED!! Thank you, Thank you! Maybe this comment will be of use to someone else...

  • On some videos here on Youtube someone says to hold the ESC-key,but correct and most common is to hold SHIFT-key---> 0:48 I hope helped,greetz from Macedonia! Ubuntu rocks!

  • This is only working if you have not set a root password,

    if you have a clean installation there is no root password set.
