ann19oct - always happy to share views on Bruce, yes he is an amazing songwriter, in fact amazing all round guy. I have just dug out my Lucky Town cd to play in car, and I just cannot get over this song, I have to play at least two or three times on each playing and still it amazes me, so brilliant, his delivery, the guitar, the lyrics. Fantastic!
How can a fan ever choose a favourite - there are so very many, but The Big Muddy is absolutely sublime, I was looking for a live video of this song but sadly doesn't seem to be one. Any bruce fan out there have one to share pleaseeeee?
Thank you for your comment. I know there's a clip of Mr. Springsteen performing this- I remember seeing one years ago on TV. I still remember the performance. ...this song is one of my favorite Bruce-tunes too, and there's a bit of history about it - ....and the guitar here, sublime is the word!! I've listened to this tune with the headphones on a billion times...and the sense of mystery behind the lyrics is masterful...what a great songwriter he is!
this came to mind today what with the whole gulf oil thing.....

Has to be Bruce's most underrated song. It's not so terrible like some people make it out to be.
