  • Nobody dances like Morrissey!

  • Great distraction and great vide0!! thank u downloadmusic .im

  • I love The Smiths.

  • man i would cum if i were at that show

  • with the Smiths I never can separately judge music or lyrics...they make a wonderful combination!!!stunning songs those men made together...stunning!

  • THAT BASS LINES !!!!

    and

    THAT GUITAR !!!

    Oh my gOd !

This song is gonna kill me !

  • Johhny Marr and Morissey are amazing

  • i love this fucking guitar always grande johny marr

  • Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

  • what's the song at the beginning of the vid that they finished?

  • @anth00000 Heaven knows I'm miserable now ^_^

  • Great bass playing!

  • I must master the Moz dance moves before I go out clubbing!!!!!!

  • can proudly say i was listening to this when everyone else was dying over bon jiffy. Where are the brilliant musicians these days?

  • They sound so good live, as all great bands do. I think we should all bow our heads and send a prayer TO the almighty utube, tehehe

    Amen

  • morrissey with the long draping shirt and the flowers sticking out of his back pocket, THIS is the morrissey that is so great. he's still good today, but not as eccentric.

  • i was 1yrs old at this time, wow, im old huh...damn, i love this band...marr is a bad ass guitarist, one of the best ive ever heard!

  • i was 1yrs old at this time, wow, im old huh...damn, i love this band...

  • brilliant

  • story of my life!

  • johny marrs intro riff totally sick!!!!!!!! :D

  • Crowd chants, "MORRISSEY! MORRISSEY!"

Johnny Marr thinks, "Oh yeah?" then plays riff to Girl Afraid

  • HELLO!!! Morrissey checking Johnny out! Likes what he sees...

    Nobody CARES??? C'MON!!! At 2:05

I know Morrissey has said that there was never anything sexual going on between them, but here's proof that there was some sort of attraction.

  • @Rombie Now when You said it: there's LOT OF PURE SEX in the air....(omg; I'm wet now!)

  • @Rombie No one cares.

Even if Mozzer was checking Johnny out, that says nothing of a mutual attraction. Most everyone checks Johnny out when he's melting faces like that. It's not like Morrissey is the exception.

  • MUITO BOM !!!!EU TINHA APENAS 11ANOS E JÁ ERA FÃ.....

  • Check it out at 2:05 Morrissey is checking Johnny out and enjoys it

  • One word.... Johny Marr.

  • Marr should do guitar for Morrissey on his solo stuff......

  • @bannanachops There's a reason why he doesn't...they're too different. Johnny wants to rock, and mozzer doesnt. It would also be more of a showcase for Morrissey, with Johnny as his back up band. Johnny's too good for that.

But goddam. If Mozzer still does "This charming man" and "The Headmaster Ritual," why can't Johnny make a cameo?

  • @damienmetalwind I have to agree basically entirely with you. It's more a wishful thought than anything I meant. Apparently they've been offered millions to rejoin and have turned it down everytime anyway. As in Morrissey's solo stuff of the 90's was lacking proper guitar, with many many exceptions of coarse, lyrically still being very sound, 00s stuff, much better guitar making better albums than the 90s,Marr at his side would be phenomenal now, adding what some of Mozzer's albums were lacking.

  • walkouttowinter you are spot on there man, this is hard enough to play on the bass, guitar must be impossible.

  • Music of the Program in Brazil "Realce" !!! 80's FOEREVER

  • Geniuses at work! Oh how much I wish I had seen them live! Knowing that they'll never play live again is unbearable.

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • Rourke's bass lines sound so amazing with Johnny's guitar work - fantastic!

  • Andy Rourke is my actual idol.

  • I want to sport Moz's haircut so bad, but I could never pull it off...

  • I saw The Smiths 3 times and I'm STILL waiting to see a band who are as tight as they were. Get back together!!!

  • I love The Smiths 4ever! Moz,Marr,Rourke and Joyce. The four boys of Manchester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was and still I am a boy afraid whit 42 years old. Boy Afraid!!!!!!! Hugs from São Paulo-Brazil. I love Legião Urbana!!!!!!!!!

  • marr is godly here

  • orgasm

  • you too??

    :)

  • Jangle pop at its finest! Why isn't else making this kind of music?

  • My favourite Smiths song. God what a great band. Marr the best guitar ever. Great rhythm section. Just a really talented and tight outfit.

  • lembro dessa musica na aberturo do programa REALCE na rede record de tv...

  • definitely the best era of my life..

  • Good audio!

  • What a perfect song!

  • Rourkey my underrated bass hero...LOVE U!!

  • The Smiths ==> Inglaterra

    Legião Urbana ==> Brasil

  • What?

  • @MatthewPA1972

Legiao Urbana were a Brazilian band from the 80s as well. They sounded like they were very influenced by the Smiths. The guy that posted that is obviously Brazilian.

  • In two words: immmm pressive

  • "Boy afraid

    Prudence never pays

And everything she wants costs money

But she doesnt even like me !

And I know because she said so

    In the room downstairs

    She sat and stared

    In the room downstairs

    She sat and stared

Ill never make that mistake again !"

  • was a bit surprised to find this song is about marriage. i always thought of it as the story of boy not meeting girl, sitting in the library of their school, both not getting the nerve to strike up a bond between them.

  • where did you hear that?

  • The story of my life.

  • JOHNNY MARR IS GOD!!!!!

  • MOZZ IS GOD!!!!! AND JOHNNY IS TOO!!!

  • Yeahh!! Totally. Great chemistry between them. (And the bass playing of the andy is unique)

  • @liakospanos agreee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its funny cuz every footage I see of Andy he always looks bored...lol

  • Haha, yeah, the most you can hope for is a crafty smile from him every now and again. I remember he said once that when he couldn't score heroin on the road he'd take other stuff (prescription pills, I think?), and that everything would become a bit 'slow motion'. Maybe he was just kind of out of it a lot of the time.

  • his dance is very particular hehehe

    the smiths is amazing

  • i've been listening to this band for over 18 years now, still cant get enough!!

  • Obviously Morrissey and Marr are frickin brilliant but they had an understated but amazing guys on the bass n drums... they keep this song moving!

  • @joestrummer2007 What do you expect more from this song?

  • @joestrummer2007 u r soo riiiight!!!

  • @joestrummer2007 so so so true.... morrisey and marr couldnt touch that kind of amazing song writing without a solid ryhthm section like that....

  • amazing song harmony riffs traffic what ever

  • Andy Rourke !!!!

  • this is tight

    like my wallet

    ps i am jew

  • Johnny Marr is sick!

  • Tie them down, force the headphones on their ears and make them listen! Do you have any idea how many low-rate clones this band has produced?

  • Teenagers, this was the greatest band in the history of the universe and if you want to impress your little friends you will learn about this band.. that is all .. good night.

  • Fans are funny!

  • i concur, however not many of my friends care about this band. dumb highschool kids!

  • @bw3ttt I know ,right? Im 16 and I absolutly LOVE the Smiths!i hate most modern bands... But Morrisey is so... understanding y'know?

  • Great song and performance.

  • God the sound is sooo good. I can listen to this all day. The bass, guitar & drums sound so good.

Andy U R my bass Hero, LOVE U

  • Hell yea!

    Beautiful

    gotta love morrissey

  • tight, tight, tight!!!

  • BRILLIANT. What else is there to say?

  • its all about tijuana then!cheap beer, legal weed, prostitutes, and listening to the smiths at porkys!hahaha

  • fuck you both american and chinese, europe pwns.

by the way, great video, love that dance

  • once again, what a great live band, what a great bass line...not only Mars

  • Yes, yes and absolutely yes. fucking amazing bass lines. Andy is the great bass players off all times.

  • GREAT!!!

  • are you all chinese?

  • AMAZING !!

    I LOVE YOU

    &.&

  • I love you Smiths...I love you

  • fuckin effortless and brilliant what a tune

  • best intro

  • Brilliant melodies, brilliant vocals, brilliant lyrics, BRILLIANT SONG !!

  • you forgot one: BRILLIANT GUITAR

  • listening to that guitar is like having good sex

  • drums anyone?

  • Ich muss immer lachen wenn ich Morrissey tanzen sehe , aber ich liebe ihn trotzdem!

  • This is the perfect band.

  • Johnny Marr is too good he has a very distinctive sound. The Smiths were great.

  • You wanna know something that's really nuts about Marr live? Not to be too much of a techhead, because I don't know that much about the stuff, but check out the amp he's using. That's a JCM 120 or 160. If you fuck up one damn note on that amp, you hear it, it's probably the cleanest amp you can buy. Listen to him play - not a note missed and this is a damn tricky song to play. Marr puts wanker solo guitarists to shame!

  • Sorry, not JCM, Roland JC 120 (Jazz Chorus). NOW I sound like a techhead. Hahaha.

  • When asked why he used that amp he replied "It was the 80's". Though something tells me Marr cared about equipment more than just referring to the respective decade.

  • Is he using two of them?

  • @walkouttowinter I know, crazy song to play on the guitar. Its so hard, i was trying to learn it and am finding it a nightmate. The speed of the song to makes it much more harder. Amazing really, hes not even breaking a sweat

  • @walkouttowinter Sorry to correct, he's actually playing a Roland JC120 (not a jcm, thats a marshall prefix.) It's effectively a keyboard amp that gives killer clean guitar tone, probably the best solid state amp ever built. But yes, it really does bring out your mistakes (he makes none)

  • i love the way marr just rips through the riff, thats an amazing song, kudos to all 4 of em but marr, fuck man that is nice, so cool

  • I love the smile and the way he looks at the audience at 2:35 when he sings, "And everything she wants costs money.." I've watched this clip a billion times just for that face! And yes, Johnny's guitar on this song is amazing!!!

  • he has a great smile

  • Johnny Marr's guitar part is sublime

  • everyone always talks about J. Marr... i find also the bass playing remarkable... compared to the primitive simple figures that Peter Hook of Joy Division played, he appears like a bass wizard

  • BEYOND GOOD !

  • I love the little snarl-esque expression Morrissey makes at 2:37, and his voice when he says, 'But she doesn't even like me.' is great.

Morrissey circa The Smiths is my man-crush.

  • Whoah, it looks like Morrissey has flowers growing out of his keester.

Great song though, one of my favorite Smiths songs. I love the guitar part.

  • So good !

  • the smiths are the greatest. they´ve never lost control and morrissey is the best dancer in the world.

  • Demais essa música simplesmente perfeita

    Smiths é Eterno !!!!!!

  • @reginaldogomes754 isso mesmo rs

  • I LUV this Band!!!! Such a cool song!!!! The Smiths rules on in my life!!!!! Morrissey's dancing makes me giggle at times, but he is forgiven because I find it quite cute!!!

  • My favourite:

    1st - Still ill

    2nd - this charming man

    3rd - girl afraid

  • My list is exactly the same. I l;ike the way the bass is really prominent on this version

  • I love The Smiths, I am 25 years old and I discovered them 3 years ago, and now they are part of my life. From Spain

  • I am 24 and I also discovered them 3 years ago. Do the Smiths have a big following in Espana?

  • I´m Spanish and I LOVE them if that counts :)

  • i'm a chinese, love them also

  • you can't like them if you are chinese

  • you can't like them cos you're a racist cunt

  • you don't like china because you're industrially inferior

  • @barbittr Of course it counts. There is a great video on youtube of the smtihs in Madrid in 1985. The whole concert is there, check it out.

  • Morrissey is well known, he has been this summer here in two ocassions. I prefer Smiths to Morrissey. Morrissey is ok but In my humble opinion the fusion "marr-morrissey" it will be unrepeatable.

    Best wishes

  • 1. Barbarism begins at home

    2. Well I wonder

    3. Girl afraid

BTW, my wedding song was an acoustic version of This charming man...

  • My favorite Smiths song! That opening riff is beyond description

  • Totally agree, one of my top three Smiths songs, awesome lyrics, amazing riff.

  • Thanks fergalbo. Clever riff

  • great lyrics for a great song!!!
