One of the best performances by any musician on any instrument ever, what this animal played here is unreal. Remember it is all music, and not a bunch of scales put together.
Amazing, when I first heard it not even my speakers could tolerate it, they blew off.
He is a guitar god. Great, fantastic, there is no word to define his talent. God bless you, you are a genius. You come from another planet. An alien of guitar. We can't play after listening to you. You are very and very impressive guy. Please give me a little piece of your talent. You are a monster playing guitar.
he's the most tallented guitarist in the last 20 years . high techniqe that doesn't hurt that amazing feel and highly gifted melodics . and that sound !! .....so smooth and silky . he's blessed
does somebody knows which effects he uses in most of the song
What do you have against me? Look you can say all you want that he got the song from someone else or he made it in his mind. I don't know wats in EJ's mind but I can tell you it wasn't all in his heart to show the world " Hey listen to this wonderful melody Yeah!"
It seems he tried to make the best of it with technical skill. Then again it might be easy to some people, but not to me. S:-/
@alagogo okay, let's say yes, but do you know what scales he's playing?(Major, minor, pentatonic,Blues,Dorion,Phrygian,Aolian,Mongolian) the list goes on and on,
Let me tell you something, if your complaining, explain logically or learn something and show how you would play it!
@JonnyRocket667 Actually Eric Johnson does play in Major and Minor Pentatonic (Root, Major 3rd, 4th, 5th, Minor 7th intervals), but he predominantly plays in the Modes of; Dorian, Mixolydian, and Aeloian, there is the Hipolydian Mode, derived from the Mixolydian Mode, but it starts on the Root of C exactly the same as C Major. He does not play really use the Phrygian Mode at all, if at all; Nothing Can Keep me From You - Ah Via Musicom, is in the Mixolydian Mode throughout.
it is not about whether or not it is easy and can be played by others. It is the fact that "he" heard this..than brought it out for people to listen to.
@CarolyntheGreat oie bitch, u r the one who is barbie doll. dont understand the meaning of music? cuz u r a bitch and u belong to kitchen, let men handle this job and eric johnson is this do much better. never come here alright and ya seen ur interest of equality, brotherhood and sisterhood in ur profile. dont say much, im gonna puke, ur comments shows ur true colour
@Carolynthegreat dude what are you saying? Eric johnson has made some pretty fancy scales and arpeggios methods, it seems your more into vocal music or just some 2chorded repetitive-boring-music.
You know this is from 80s right? I'd say this is a bit, or more, better than some of Bon Jovi and journeys music. But hell it sure is better than today's music
This guy's chord playing is amazing, and he also shreds too. Simply just a great all around player, unlike most guitarists who only master one of those two.

He sounds like a pretty empty little barbie doll with no character or self expression, only the material vomited out in studied precision. ZZZzzzzzzzzz
@CarolyntheGreat ....thank you for showing your total illiteracy of understanding what guitars and players are all about....you are absolutely brilliant in your stupidity...you are a gem.
I met him loading up after a show in DC and he was about as laid back as they come, thanked me for staying for the show which started about an hour late, and even whished me a happy birthday.
His pentatonic runs are just way cool. Plus, he tries so much to NOT play standard guitar licks and that helps to keep it more musical instead of the obligatory pentatonic licks most people do. His clean chords are great too.
@acdcmasterman I don't know a whole lot about it, but from what I understand that's his old school strat the one they kind of modeled his signature after (along with his specs).. I could be wrong - please correct me if I am.
I have known Eric since the 1980's when we shared a bill in Memphis. At the time I was living there & working in studios there. Eric took a 4 hour sound check to be prepared for the best possible sound in the venue. We shared the bill for two nights over a weekend. Eric rocked the house each night as we sat & watched in wonder. Now I live in the Austin area. I still get goose bumps when I see him play. I've seen & played with the best & Eric is up their w/the best of all time.
his tone is wonderful! theres faster more trick guitar players but his style and tone are totally what sets him aside! this dude is truly 1 of the greats!
First thing I noticed about Eric is that his picking sounds cleaner than most people's legato, mine included. Also he plays fast without putting out that shredder feel, even though there's nothing wrong with some of the better shredders. This entire show was amazing, Cliffs of Dover blue me away, kid! XD
@simbasa12 Who the hell do you think you are ? Your just a wanker. Eric has more soul in his index finger than you do in your entire body. I have a feeling your cocky as hell in real life. Get off his back, I dont see you on the stage performing. And so what if you can play 3032 miles per hour ? You dont sound anywhere near as good as EJ
Love EJ... He's one of the greats, to be sure. You don't have to be in the white-hot spotlight to be one of the greats. When you get as good as him, you don't have to be "pop"ular. Any serious guitarist/musician knows the greats and I don't know any who don't try to emmulate the greats. If you don't know who the greats are or were, you aren't that serious about your guitarin' or any other instrument, for that matter.
Tones was released by Warner Music... Ah via Musicom and Venus Isle, by EMI. then he left majorsand started to launch with small labels, including Steve Vai's label i think.
he is so underrated, his chord and melody work is amazing along with everything else... and not many people even know about him, i mean i even saw a few years ago he is still just touring around playing little venues like state fairs and shit,,,wish i could see him live someday
Got to meet him just before he was "discovered". I was an early and very rabid fan. Really nice guy. Told him about how I learned to play keys by listening to Elton John, Billy Joel, I'd slow the turntable down & get the licks down, then play the songs through & get the timing down. Turns out he did the same thing sitting in his bedroom as a kid.
He's not past his prime. And he never did get the commercial credit he was due, but what the hell, look at the mtv shit called music today.
To me, this is the theme song of Road Trip 2009. Whenever I hear this song, I think of the scenery of Yellowstone passing by while I cruise in my car smoking an american Spirit hand rolled cig. I also think of all my hikes there and in Gallatin Nat'l forest and my drives out of the forest. The air pressure on my ear as I drive from 4000 to 7000' and back again improves his tone even better!
Eric Johnson and Paul Gilbert have to be my two favorites of all time. They're both amazing musicians with awesome technique and great sound. Plus they are some of the coolest and most down to earth people to meet. No egos or cockiness at all.
this guy is....one of the BEST GUITARISTS EVER....His style...his tone....his AMAZING SOUND QUALITY!...and this solo is one of my best in electric guitar history....Eric Johnson has influenced me a lot...

A while ago I went out and just wanted to get some coffee, and maybe some ice cream, but I didn't get any because of some noise pollution.
