  • my fave motors

  • Quick question just got a new "really old boat" for the first time with this exact motor. When me and my buddies tested it out when getting up to speed the boat starts to lean towards the left and pulls to the right any idea o how to fix it?? The boat is a 73 mark twain with the merc 140hp.

  • @y2p1988 did you fix your leaning issue?

  • Ive got an 1150, 1976 I think and it runs rough and boggs down. On cold starts, it takes awhile to start. I believe the carbs are taking awhile to get primed. Fuel pump maybe?

  • The best way to start these (Cold Start) is,

    1. Pump the fuel bulb till firm + 1 squeese.

    2. Lift cold start or advance throttle (Depending on the controls you have).

    3. Push and hold the choke button.

    4. Crank engine till it fires.

    5. Once it fires let go of the key and choke button and adjust idle to about 1500 till warm.

If still hard to start, check carbs and all wires, especially from the stator (Under the flywheel)

  • GO TOWER OF POWER. these things will go forever. any problems with it?

  • Haven't really had any problems with it once we found the frayed wire from the stator.

  • TOWER OF POWER! nice engine!

  • The sound of an inline 6 Merc is a beautiful sound...

  • What year motor is this?

  • It's a 1979.

    Craig

  • It's a 1996 Glastron GS160, 16' and weighs in at 1050# without the motor.
