  • Thank you, the presentation was excellent. Sometimes it is hard to find good info on the net, but you hit it on the head! I look forward to tying this fly. Charlie

  • I have good luck with this fly on Pennsylvania smallmouth. I also tie it in yellow and chartruse.

  • I'm fishing in South Texas on the Laguna Madre. I've tied gurglers with estaz, marabou, rabbit strips and I'm sure there are even more materials that will work. I like the hackle for fishing under lights at night. On the flats for trout or snook I think a flashy estaz is probably a good idea.

  • why hackle and not estaz

  • @fnpbr hackle helps the fly to ride higher in the water and to come to a stop faster after you strip. Also, estaz can hold water and make the fly heavy, however, estaz works fine and as a trade of can give the fly a bit more bulk on larger flies for say, tarpon or barrramundi here in australia. hope this helped.

  • wher are you fishing at? Fla?

  • i fly fish in fl
