So was time and resources wasted on researching new avenues of stem cell extraction solely because of religious fanatics having issues with blobs of cells that don't even have a a single neuron being extracted or is this an actual breakthrough even if all these fanatics were to suddenly disappear?

@neurel111 i would say yes, because while embryonic stem cells have a lot of potential they generally aren't soured from patients

whereas someone who saved their cord blood could end up with a genetically identical source of stem cells, which is ideal

Knowledge is never unethical. How that knowledge is acquired can be unethical, and how that knowledge is used can be unethical. The knowledge is simply a fact about the universe which is already true, regardless of if anyone discovers or knows it.

And having it is always better than not having it.
