Your playing in these videos sounds like the sort of music the Stones and the Faces would've done. Listen to the faces version of "Sweet little rock and roller" and you'll see what I mean - thanks for educating us further :)
Many thanks Justin, a great lesson. I really like all the little add-ons and variations that can make guitar my playing interesting. Would love to see more in future lessons.
Justin! I love your lessons. They are by far the easiest to learn from of any I've looked at on Youtube. I was wondering if you have done or if you could once you're done with the blues lessons, make a video explaining harmonics and how they work. That would be really helpful. Thanks.
I and I think many other people can hear those wonderful riffs and melodies in my head. When I try figure them out on guitar it just doesn't sound the same and I literally try for hours when I think I got something really good going. Can you please do a lesson on how to get think from your head on the neck or if you already did could you or someone else link me to it? It would really mean alot to me.
@tombola1990 Try to sing along when you're playing. Every single line and expecially (what you should do) when you practice your scales. When you listen to very good guitar players or watch them on youtube you sometimes can see them humming along to the licks they are playing. It doesn't matter if you can sing good or not. The one thing that counts is to do it.
Over the time you will develope a connection between your imagination of a specific note, you're singing and finally your guitar playing
I did this for about one year and now I can sing a note and instantly play it on the guitar. I am right in over 90% of the time.
The other thing wich is very helpfull, is to transcribe songs. Start with Bob Marley Songs or Nirvana or sth. like that. It has to be easy... and always sing along the line you want to play.
When you can't sing a lick, solo or melody by heart you'll never play it as good as you could.
@tombola1990 If Justin could do a lesson on that, he would know the secret to being a musician. You can't do a lesson on that. It's a matter of learning scales and practicing riffs over and over until your fingers can play what you hear in your head, without thinking about it. When you reach that level, you've become a real musician. That can take many years of hard work though. Hope that helps!
@tombola1990 Basically if you take all of Justin's stuff together, theory, technique and ear training, you can move stuff from ear or head to the guitar no problem. :)
I think you should consider singing cover songs as well as your own because some you show us how to play suite your voice very much, like Beatles but I can't think of any blues ones you sing at the moment. I once made whole list of others you sing sound great doing as good if not better than original.
As always excellent stuff Justin! I especially like the "out of key" tricks with that slide and open strings, I often just don't think about that this is a possibilty.
Could it be that there was ringing a mobile phone during the introduction of your lesson Justin? I'm not really sure, but it sounded like a vibrating alert from a mobile phone. :D

the sliding of your pinky over the two frets while keeping your original position is tough sheet

The muting the bar thing could be avoided by learning better control over your right hand technique.

As always GREAT lesson Justin! Even though I'm used to playing the shuffles with 5th string root barre chords these power chords shuffle KILL m wrist!
Joan Jett's "(I'm gonna) runaway" uses a B power chord. KILLS me every time I play it!

Very good lesson. Even as a beginner I get a little bored with the straight 12-bar comp and this is nice to see.
