  • Follow up story: I got to hang out with Nguyen Hung one-on-one a couple of years ago when he performed for Tet in Seattle. It was pretty cool to speak Viet to him and hear his personal story being in the Viet entertainment industry. Also made sure to get a photo with him.

Seeing him perform and dance in person was pretty damn awesome. I hope I can still move like him when I'm his age.

  • are you male or female, im just curious? also are you vietnamese?

  • Male, not Viet.

  • Thanks for the comments guys, very kind of you to watch.

  • do they really understand that?

  • There were 10 salsa dancers that helped me do this salsa/cha cha demo that night.

No one was Viet, in the group...but it didn't matter. We were at a Viet restaurant hosting an awareness event in support of local small businesses in the neighborhood. Since I like the Viet language and music, since this was a Viet restaurant, and since Hay Cho Toi is one of my favorite songs, I asked them to dance to it...they happily obliged.

  • cung dc

  • They dance with Nguyen Hung's song? How cool is that?

  • Thanks for the comment! I've always wanted to dance to NH's "Hay Cho Toi" on Paris By Night after seeing it years ago...this was as close as I was going to get.

  • did they like the song? :D

  • Yes, both my dancer friends and the audience liked the song. Most of the audience was non-Viet, so it was their first time listening to Viet pop music.

  • Love it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting!
