This looks like a good product, but the video doesn't do it justice. I would do less narration while filming and voice over later. Having the outtakes would be great afterwards or as a separate video. You might also rent two of the same car and use them and a set "track" to show off their performance.
If they weren't too spendy I wouldn't mind having a set for my wife to throw on the mini van when it gets a little slick. Easy for her to put on and give her better traction and me piece of mind that'll she make it there safe. If we get deep snow then she stays home or takes the 4x4.
@chevyracing883 an entire hour? omg, if i actually need to spend that hour to put them on, these things wont do shit to help me because i'll be snowed in completely. I tried something like this a few years ago in 3ft of snow. i went nowhere.
Nice video. It might be more impressive and produce a bigger 'WOW' factor, if you used a diesel car to tow the big rig, instead of using another big rig. Say, using a VW Toureg TDi. Top Gear (UK) pulled a 747 using such a car so it has the torque to do it...my 2c worth...
love the idea but I live in Alaska and not sure if these would work after driving in powder for a few hours... Would they freeze up while driving? what about -20 F on ice? freezing rain? Glad to see a new invention!!
@SnowroxKT they dont necessarily freeze up because they clean themselves off every rotation like a snow tire would...they will be alil stiff of course buy not frozen.
@KeskinTRS if the snows that deep you probably shouldnt be in it. Your wrong about them only working on flat surfaces..i have them on my truck and ive climbed a 5-6% grade at 30mph in 3-4" of snow with slick underneath.
Dry snow is more slick than wet snow. You get better traction in wet snow, however the slush can pull the vehicle from the side contact of the tire. Some people mistakenly attribute this to how slippery the conditions are.
@11akguy I'm not being disrespectful, but the only thing worse than a wet, heavy snow, is ice...A light dry snow is not much of a problem to drive on at all...A wet snow turns to near ice as you drive on...Harder for the tire tread to throw it out and clear themselves...Dry snow is light, easy to clear the tread of the tire, and much less resistance on the vehicle...Try walking on a slussy wet snow, then try walking on a dry snow, it's night and day...Living in southern New England, you learn.
If you take care of them properly, they should last 3 or 4 seasons. No driving on pavement, no driving over 30 miles an hour, take off each night, as they will freeze on the tires over night and best of all takes two or three minutes to put on.

How about the break performance, ok we can climb with these but how about driving downhill, I think it will strip, skin off ????

Couple more suggestions:
You might link to autosock.us instead of mcgee.
You might expand on your tire fitting table.
Lastly, get a hold of the guys at Tirerack. My guess is that doing so will cause your sales to explode.

What about sudden breaking, accelleration?
With this your tire profile can not work and you`ll end up with textile covered slicks.
They won`t work in deep snow or tarmac, only on flat surfaces.

TheTsyw 5 months ago
@TheTsyw Dry snow means it is cold, and has traction. Wet snow turns to ice as you drive over it.

Why not just buy snow tires????

1) The Westbound tunnel (from Denver toward California) is called the Eisenhower.
The Eastbound (toward Denver from California) is the Johnson tunnel.
2) Fucking scary driving from Denver to the tunnel (steep, twisty, snowy, dark)
3) Comparing TWIN chains to TANDEM snowsocks is not equal.
3a) Next time try TANDEM chains and TANDEM snowsocks (both on outside wheels only - NOT the inside ones)
For some reason I want a Big Mac now. Damnit Batistr!
