@BgBamBoo I too have a JP CTR02. I didnt know they were legal in Cali. I have a friend that I served with in the Marines and I would love to take the JP out along with my bolt guns but as I said I thought the "evil black rifles" were a no no out there. Please tell me I am mistaken.... or do you have a special permit?
@SludgeSlinger Hello. Well there are some legal issues with center fire simi auto's in Cal. You will be limited to a 10 round mag and must have some sort of mag lock. Google bullet button. That is what I am running on my AR's. It is a pain in the @ss, but it is what we have to do to have "evil rifles" in this state. You also might want to join CalGuns. There is all the info there to keep you out of trouble with your JP.
@BgBamBoo Thanks! I checked it out. A bunch of us old Marines are planning to converge on his ranch in Northern Cali next summer and we all will be flying in with guns. I will probably ship my ammo because I hand load all my long range stuff, and I plan on bringing enough to really put a pile of rounds down range. I may make copies of the Cali laws to take with me or contact the Cali DOJ to make sure I make it out of the airport without the bracelets LOL
@SludgeSlinger Oh and btw, are you using a tapered base for your nightforce? If so, what brand is it. I was thinking of robbing a NSX 8-32 x 56 from a .308 I have and putting it on the JP.
@SludgeSlinger Non elevated base. The NXS 5.5-22X I am running on it has 100 moa of elevation adjustment so plenty to get me as far as I shoot this rifle. The 8-32 has 60 or 65 MOA elevation adjustment so a base with some built in elevation would be good for you to use. NightForce has a 20 moa one piece base. Covolo, huh? Smart to bring some guns...LOTS of growing goes on in that area.
@BgBamBoo LOL yea I hear ya :) We will be well armed. I like the areas topo I have seen, Looks like we will get to get on some steep ridges and do some slope doping. I live in the NC mountains, but they are heavily forested and up/down slope shots with distance just arent common. I saw the 20moa base. 246 bucks whew. But... thats Nightforce for ya. I wonder if it will have enough room for the 56mm objective lense with that set up. I will give them a call or call JP and make an inquiry.
Jealous of your range?? NO, why would I be? Oh wait, maybe because that is the sweetest range I've ever seen!! Man I wish I could be there.
Question though. I'm be building my first AR later this summer. Would you recommend a chrome lined barrel? I've been getting suggestions bothways. I'll be doing target shooting similiar to this so I wont be regularly 'dumping' ammo but I don't want to sacrifice accuracy or longevity or ease of cleaning as tough cleaning kills both also.
@ThatDudeSirraj Don't be jealous...just come shoot with us! If your ever up in No. Calif. the range is open to the public for matches, etc.
Ok...if you are just going to use it for precision shooting. Then I would go with a NON-chromed barrel. Also your twist rate should be chosen for the bullets you plan on shooting. For longer range shooting the heavy bullets are better so a faster twist should be used. Get the right cleaning equipment and clean your barrel correctly and no worries.
@Manzgear Thank you! Will be posting new videos soon. Just posted some yesterday. One features my beautiful wife Amber shooting this rilfe. Take care,Stan

@ddavila29 Are you referring to weight of pull? If so then it is a 3 pound trigger.
