I waited 2 years, finally, last christmas, i got a PS3 with MGS4, when i heard this song, i cried. I knew one part of my life was about to end, one that i'll remember during the rest of my entire life.
When this song is played for the second time in a certain pivotal scene before the ending, you can literally feel the entire struggle of a tired warrior trying to finish a business of an age he didn't start; a life he didn't live for himself but his will to pass on whatever he had to the next generation exceeded beyond his deteriorating body's limits.
I like this song i respect solid snake and big boss but big boss had his life harder than solid snake especially since they tortured him and used him alot
@parappa30 No, Big Boss broke out of the cycle (or at least he thought he did). Solid, on the other hand, was being used his entire life until his final 6 months where a revelation was revealed to him. You should watch MGS4's epilogue to know what I'm talking about.
"I wanted to be a soldier...But war is ugly...There's nothing glamorous about it..." -Meryl "We're not tools of the government or anyone else..." - Frank Jaegar (Gray Fox) "Do you believe love can bloom... even on a battlefield...?" Hal Emmerich (Otacon) "You killed me benefactor and sent by brother home a cripple..." -Naomi Hunter "Today's good may be tomorrow's evil..." -The Boss "You're pretty good..." -John Doe (Jack, Big Boss) "War has changed..." -David (Solid/Old Snake)
This is hebrew not yidish i am from israel and i can say that is 100 % hebrew but yeah that is the right meaning of the words. for real i wasent understand the accint in thr first time i heard the song but aftter few times i noticed that and i understand the words.
@IntricationZ I need someone to "partially" translate the Japanese script for MGS4 for me. Instead of translating the entire game, please translate the "differences" between the Japanese version and the Amercian version.
I know that the English dub had several changes to the original script and need to know the true intentions of Hideo Kojima.
No, it's japanese with a heavy accent to give it that feel. If you do not believe me, then remember that Hideo Kojima-sama wrote the lyrics of this song.
No. This is Hebrew. Kojima had the lyrics translated. If you don't believe me, the word sung at around 6:17 is "Hatikvah" which means "the hope." That's the title of Israel's national anthem.
NO IT"S NOT, yiddish is my second language, I've been hearing it all my life growing up, and it NOT Hebrew, I know this because I'm israeli, so what do you think my FIRST language is? and i don't speak arab. And I don't understand a fuckin word in this song. this is japanese, with a middle eastern theme to it, how much you wanna bet?
Listening to this song makes me feel almost saddened by the fact that Solid Snake for his entire adult life was fighting, be it aginst Outer Heaven, or Zanzibar troops. Then when he retired he was forced back into fighting this time aginst our own countrymen, Metal Gears, and the Patriot's. Finally only after spending his entire life in war..he can finally live out his life..in peace. Thank you Hideo Kojoma for allowing Snake to get the rest he deserves, and thank you for 20 years of Metal Gear!
Yeah, a typo on my part, thanks for the spot! I must've been tired when i wrote that or i might've wanted to get it posted to soon and rushed the typing, anyway thanks again.
@CyborgGogetenks i still find the boss's background information just as sad. She actually led a tragic life. Read Eva's breifing files in metal gear solid peace walker

Closing my heart to the sound of gunfire
Uttering a roar
In a flash I am switched into despair
Everything for the one who lives inside the nightmare
Missing from the bottom of my heart
Wishing the world that ran out of tears
The heart is already dead
The hope
Missing so much it hurts

The beginning gives the impression that she says "S'aimer" which means, in french "to love"

No, it'd be je l'adore.
s'aimer means "to like oneself" and would be quite odd to say

Why is it called Love Theme? As far as I can understand, the lyrics are about the horror of war.

In musical term, a Love Theme is the main theme of a visual production.
ViolinSnowKid 2 years ago 4
@Pssybart It's called Love Theme instead of "the horrors of war" because love can bloom on the battlefield.
