I completely dig that.I guess I was trying to say that not all people appriciate the intention but everyone would love this amp.It really sounds great overthere.I am fixin to get one based on the YT sound .Phil X makes everything sound amazing but I can still hear the amp's expressive essance. Too bad you had to change it to such a juvenile name. I know people that don't like dark references..."Evil" is so cool to say but come on! All that work for an undignified name.Yayaya it's rock&roll but listen to a name like Vox....I can play without explaining to anyone the whole story of an amp. Anyway ,I take playing deeply and I get silly but I like to have a choice when I'm silly.Great sounding amp.Probably the best out there!
@Thekeon3 I guess we can't make everyone happy... the truth is ... Evil*Robot is the name of a DRILLS song written by Phil X and refers to Ex-girlfriends, so i n a way it's really appropriate and kind of funny... don't judge a book by it's cover... it's an awesome sounding amp and that's what really counts right?
@LWRCftw $1500 to have that tone i know what you mean but, i still think i'd rather see the name Phil X when i turn around to look at my amp that the crowd is looking at while i'm playin'....Evil Robot just "aint" a classy name.

I really like the Evil Robot better. The Tonemaster sounds like the speaker is about to give up the ghost. Which I am sure is the case due to it's age.
@mercymood We made 100 special edition Evil*Robot amps with a custom hand-signed plate by PhilX, David Brass, and John Kasha...additional amps will be available after this run, but they won't be numbered or have a signature on them
@Stringprodigy we are making 100 hand signed EVIL ROBOTS and are nearly sold out, so if you want one, please email us at info@frettedamericana com as soon as possible. thanks

Do you guys know if this is just a limited run with only so many being made? Because I want to have this guitar in 3 years! but I don't have the money right now. Thanks, Nolan.
Big question is: Will Phil X use the EVIL*ROBOT in the studio now instead of the Tonemaster, as the Tonemaster is so fragile..or if it eventually falls apart?
@OzziePete1 If you listen to the video celebrating our 10 million hits, Phil talks about using the EVIL*ROBOT in the studios and how everyone absolutely raves about it.
@frettedamericana Checked the vid, and yep he mentions blowing people's ears out in studio with E*R. Didn't hear that first time, was either half asleep or concussed by Phil's playing! Waiting on reply from Caroline on how to pay via PayPal etc. to get my order started, so I'm serious. Sounds similar to an old "F" style amp I had years ago, but better!
this video really shows the superiority of the tonemaster when he plays AC/DC on the Jr. The distortion on the tonemonster/evil robot sounds less natural, kind of like a fuzzy distortion pedal. Tack on a $1600 price tag and you've got one worthless, 18watt replica.
@ilr111 - we had to change the name because of legal issues with Fender. The amp is now called The EVIL*ROBOT.... IT IS THE SAME AMP - ONLY THE NAME HAS CHANGED.
@frettedamericana I think the question was - what in the Fender catalog is named Tonemonster? I also never heard of a Fender invention or product which is calles Tonemonster for that matter...
The Estey Organ Co. made the original Tonemaster a little while later Fender made a Tone-Master amp to try and copy the amp, but as expected Fender failed and their copy sucked! since Leo wasnt maning the company at that time.
P.S. I like the Master over the Monster myself. It was a nice CLEAN hard rock sound and the Master aka Evil Robot sounded like any other high gain noisy amp to me.
Take it from a guy that has built a sh*t ton of amps, the speaker in the monster needs to be broken in for years to get that great complexity. Don't worry, it will be as good or better once those surround have been abused for a while. Now it sounds really good, but new. Tighter tolerance resistors, poly caps, less coupling in the power supply, tight surrounds - new. It gets better, like wine.
It's good that you guys made the ToneMonster, Phil...'cause Eddie apparently has ALL of the other ToneMASTERS! But dang it, the Tonemaster just sounds a tad more....hot.
