It would probably do a bit better if you used the manual shifting and took it to redline so that the next gear fell more into the powerband. With an auto and tall 3.3 final drive, that should help.

Exactly what I was going to say. All the magazines say all the G35 Coupes, Sedans & 350Z's are faster when shifted in manual mode vs full auto. Here is a good example why. I never understood why some cars won't shift at redline when their floored? I've seen that a few times now & don't get it?

they fixed that in 2007 i guess becaue i have an 07 z and when i floor it in auto it goes right to redline than shifts

the redline is just that, its not a shift schedule, most cars don't make power when redlined so thats why they shift early, hope that helps

Man you are dumb as fuck. Red line has nothing to do with faster 0-60 times for manuals. The reason why manuals are faster is because you loose power in the automatic transmission and there is much larger clutch lag, although most of its eliminated in the newer cars and soon there will be almost no difference between auto and manual. You dont always shift at redline. Most of the cars make max power well below their redline.

from 2003-2005 there was the VQ35DE (287hp) the 2006 manual had a special version of the DE (300hp) (fairly sure) not the rev-up and the auto had the normal DE. Then in 2007 and 2008 the 350z had the VQ35HR (305hp) in both the automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
